One of: Prov, SHU, Marq

I could see 6 happening again. Nova, Butler, X, Gtown should all be locks. Providence and Marquette might slip out but should be in. SJU, SHU, DePaul and Creighton could all be good enough for NIT bids, hypothetically, but only 2 at most will get in.

But that's just my prediction

Absolutely agree. Getting in is not the issue. Making noise once you're there is.

One key to the league's second weekend hopes will be how much 6-10 Nate Fowler contributes as a Butler freshman. I love what they have coming back along with Tyler Lewis becoming eligible at the point. Holtmann has said he expects Fowler to contribute immediately, calling him a cerebral player. If he proves serviceable they can go as far as anyone in the conference.

A big hit is Providence losing Chukwu to transfer. He would have started and provided some needed size. Now they'll have people playing out of position to compensate. That will matter come March, if they even make the tournament.

Not sure how I feel about Xavier's guards. Dee Davis might prove difficult to replace at the point. Edmond Sumner is highly regarded, but sat out his freshman year due to chronic knee tendinitis and still has that problem. Reynolds is a beast, though, and Mack can surely coach. I'm just not completely sold on them since they underachieved much of last year.

It will be interesting to see how Marquette does. Young team.
