Conversely, if you look at the 25-30 years prior to 1997, I would wager it would be heavily tilted to the West (UCLA, UNLV, etc.) but not close to 100%.

I don’t know. Indiana (3), Georgetown, Nova, North Carolina, NC state (2), Louisville (2), Michigan State, Michigan (grrrr), Duke (2), Kentucky (2), Kansas, Marquette.

Not sure about where Arkansas falls on that line.
