South Orange, N.J. – Summer baseball leagues are wrapping up and the Seton Hall baseball program had several players post strong seasons. It was especially the case for multiple incoming freshmen who produced stellar summer campaigns going up against top-notch competition.

Down in the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League, two Pirates slugged away against tough competition. Joey Calabretti (Perkasie, Pa.) and Kevin Milewski (Wallingford, Conn.) paced the league in home runs, in first and second, respectively. Calabretti sent out seven homers while holding down an infield spot for the Boca Raton Blazers. Calabretti also led the league in runs batted in, totaling 26 RBI over the course of 28 games.

Just behind Calabretti in the home run standings was his future teammate Milewski, who tied for second in the league with five long balls. In addition to his impressive power numbers, Milewski also been generated contact at an elite rate, posting a .317 batting average from the catcher position. As high schoolers playing against college athletes, the two future Pirates separated themselves from the pack. Both also competed in the league's home run derby.

Up the coast in New Jersey's Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League, several incoming Pirates made names for themselves against college competition. Gabe Cavazzoni (Wall, N.J.) held down shortstop for the Wall Clippers and hit the ball with the best of the league. Cavazzoni sported a .346 average to this point in the season to go with a 1.004 OPS. Those numbers, combined with his outstanding .485 on-base percentage and a blistering 10 stolen bases, earned him a spot in the league's All-Star festivities. Cavazzoni has also been an expert at plate discipline this summer, drawing more walks the strikeouts with 15 walks and just nine strikeouts.

Across the league for Legends Baseball, another newcomer in Justin Ford (Mount Arlington, N.J.) has been tearing it up. Ford was a contact machine, holding a .314 batting average in just twelve league games. At his hottest point, the incoming Pirate had a .450 average.

Down in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, Ryan Frontera (Red Bank, N.J.), is beginning to heat up as well. The younger brother of current Pirate Dan Frontera, Ryan has been a force at the plate for the South Jersey Kings. Across 12 games, Frontera accumulated a .314 batting average along with a .841 OPS, driving in 11 runs in the process. He's also another incoming Pirate who has excelled at plate discipline, drawing seven walks and striking out just three times.
