An interesting article. This just shows how very deadly this virus is. This will be a long, long winter. This is why I have decided to stay at home until the end of this pandemic. As this author wrote covid 19 will be a threat for years to come with anything to do. This pandemic will not simply end in 2021.

Is breathing the deadly event or is the issue that we have damaged immune systems. Why is this not a deadly virus to children? My only guess is they haven't damaged their immune systems. Maybe if they gave out some guidance on how to build up our immune systems we could slow the spread. At the same time, that would hurt the volume of people who need a vaccine costing the pharmaceutical companies money. Somethings not right when Newsom, Feinstein, Cuomo and Pelosi feel comfortable enough to go out and live their lives as they want to, all while so many live in fear.

Hello. I agree with you. That's why I think this is part of the script. You will see in the coming months the MSM push for mask wearing by all. This is why Biden has asked Americans to wear masks for his first 100 days. Then his next 100 days, another 100 etc.

My point is do we need a mask if we strengthen our immune systems or just wait for the vaccine?

Point understood. The government wants people to mask up and take the vaccine. I think the vaccine will be mandatory for all by 2025.

Given a choice between wearing a mask or potential death. I do not think that's a hard decision to make.

Correct. The government will also require US citizens to the wear masks after the pandemic as well.

This post is so silly. Thanks for the laugh.

1) It is not a binary choice as you describe it.
2) A mask does not prevent you from getting the virus.
3) Everyone is wearing masks. How's that working out these days?
4) If you get the virus, your odds of survival are very, very high.

Fear mongering statements like yours are not necessary and, in fact, dangerous to people's mental health.

Was there not potential death from the flu all of these years? Were you ignorant to not wear a mask all of those years? Is there not potential death from getting in a car? Make we should all walk everywhere. How about potential death from alcohol, red meat, sweets?

Your statement that everyone is wearing g masks is incorrect. That’s not true in NJ. Or is it true across the country where many Trump people refuse to wear masks.

did you see the picture of a bar in Oakland packed with people, shoulder to shoulder and no one had a mask on? That’s just one incident of many that goes on. How many people have friends over to their house and they don’t wear masks? Happens all the time. Mask wearing is not 100% effective to prevent the disease. But, it is effective and it helps prevent it.

NJ is not Trump country, and 75% of the populace is not complying with contact tracers. Care to re-phrase?

“Trump people”. Yea, it’s only them.

I'm glad to see we have so many experts on this issue, but I'll stick with the medical professionals who say that mask wearing is a deterrent in getting this horrible disease.

I am not sure what you mean by your post. But, while NJ as a whole is not Trump country, depending where you are in the State it would sure seem like a lot of Trump voters. For example, Ocean County is a huge Trump region. Yes, I bet that those people who were at Portabellos restaurant in Oakland were mostly Trump people.

And yes Trump people disproportionally have a problem wearing masks versus the general population. Take a look at any Trump rally. Did you see compliance with mask wearing?

Bergen County is a Democrat stronghold. That's where Portobello's is, right? You say that the Trump strongholds are where masks are not being worn. Meanwhile we live in a state that went for Biden (and HRC and Obama and Kerry ...etc) in a big way. If 75% are not compliant with the contact tracers -- this is a much bigger problem than mask compliance, and 75% of NJ folks ain't Trumpers.

What kind of mask wearing are we talking about?

For me:

Inside, out in the public like in a store? Always.

Inside, out in the public in a restaurant? Only when going to and from my table. I’m not afraid of indoor dining with proper precautions. Should be 50% capacity, not 25% capacity.

Inside, out in the public like in an office environment? Only when in the common elements of the building.

Outside, in the public? Never except when I can’t be 6 feet from other people not with me. Has never happened.

In my own home, even with friends? Never.

In my car? Never, I’m not a complete idiot.

I'm in the camp only when necessary. Anyone who truly believes the mask stops the stops the virus from spreading must also believe the carbon dioxide we release when breathing is not spreading and we are breathing that in. There's also long term effect of breathing in CO2.

If masks were truly the answer I believe we would have fitted masks. People would be discouraging a family buying a pack of masks and everyone using them when everyone does haven't the same size face.

You are saying that only people in Bergen County go to Portobello's? Of course we know that is not true. I know the demographic that goes to Portobellos. I have been there quite a few times and know many people who go there. That demographic is a high percentage of Trump voters. Can I do empirical data on this? No. But I am aware of who goes there. There is a whole group of people that I know who are hardcore Trump people. That is one of the places that they go to. Btw, Oakland went for Trump 4271 to 3988. Have you been there Donnie? I wish we could actually find out the truth on this. But I would bet you a serious bet, that the overwhelming majority, would be Trump voters. 65% or higher.

“Trump people”. Yea, it’s only them.
Did you know that ALL of these people are Trump supporters: ppl throwing maskless Airbnb parties at mansions; NYC fight club participants; the various night clubs throwing parties (see Ohio); participants at religious ceremonies; college kids. Get real.

This is funny. So NJ went for Biden by over +20, +21.5 in Bergen County. But 75% are not cooperating with contact tracers, so that vast minority of Trump voters makes up the 75% of people who are every bit as bad as people not wearing masks?
FWIW, only 4 counties went for Trump. I suppose Italian restaurants in Oakland are overrun with Sussex County residents not wearing masks? I have never been to the place, but I grew up in north NJ, and usually the weekend crowds at these restaurants that have a liquor license and a bar are pretty young. I'm just not picturing your middle age pickup truck driver from Wantage hanging out at an upscale Italian restaurant.

I don't know why this has become a Dem-GOP issue. It is not & should not be a political issue but rather a health issue. Whatever can be done to defeat this pandemic should be done. Yes it is inconvenient wearing masks but death is even more inconvenient. I know SHU09 will say the chances of dying are very very low even if you have COVID. Try telling that to the families of those that died. A lot of people have died from it and more will. Several people I know were among the victims. I don't want to join them.

Not one municipality in ocean county went for Biden. I live down here. The app did a 2016 vs 2020 at all the shore communities only monmouth county flipped blue to red but biden did do better than hilary in ocean county

Because its about business being opened and money generation as capitalists

People have masks in every public place I've been to in NJ. Of course, there you go again politicizing an issue that shouldn't be political.

This is exactly how I've been doing it as well. I get a chuckle every day when I see people walking outside by themselves masked up. I just shake my head when I see sheep with them on in their cars.

You have been wrong on CoVid since the beginning when you said it is just a flu. You have continuously been wrong on this disease yet you have the nerve to keep spouting your thoughts. Have you no shame?

I've been right. The panic has been completely unnecessary.

Nice dodge by the way. Everywhere you go in NJ, people are wearing masks. Doesn't appear to be working!

Hello. I have been right on covid since it started. The only thing I was wrong was the September shut down. Only reason it didn't happen because it would have hurt murphy politically.

@cernjSHU if you remember correctly I have been warning about the second wave since April. People were calling me an "Idiot". Have I been wrong?

Something to watch the next several months. The msm will continue to push for people to wear masks and Biden will request Americans to wear masks for his first 100 days in office. I will be right about masks! We will be wearing them for the rest of our lives!

From the times- Here's why vaccinated people will still have to wear masks for years to come

Listen, every expert said there would be a second wave. History repeats itself. The second wave during the Spanish Flu was the deadliest. So don’t go patting yourself on the back when most people acknowledged from the beginning that there would be a second wave. Only Shu09 didn’t believe it in his fabulous streak of being wrong.

I will make you a bet, that after this pandemic ends there will be no mask wearing. So, I know ur stance, u know mine. So there is no sense of repeating it every other post.

Thank you for the response. Respectfully you will be incorrect about mask wearing after the pandemic. The MSM is already gearing up for what certain state governors/CDC will push for after the pandemic. Thank you.

Governor Murphy did make an interesting couple of quotes today. He did admit that we probably not back to a state of normalcy for sa couple of years. So @cernjSHU I believe your statement saying summer 2021 will be completely open is false. I expect pretty much same restrictions as last summer.
