Funny that less than two years ago, both RU and SHU thought they hit MBB pay-dirt ending up in the best possible situations with RU in the B10 and SHU in the NBE..like-type schools; more money....Now that the spotlight is on both programs, both have melted faster than an ice-cube in July....we arguably could each be the worst run programs in our respective conferences....we know we have the two worst coaches.

That's all sad, but true, 85. We're both bottom-feeders and both stubbornly staying pat.

While what you say is true, let's not act like the returning rosters are similar in talent.

You're right they are not similar in talent but isn't the question which coach will get the most of the talent on their respective rosters and which coach will produce better results on the court.

I thought 85's post implied we are in the same place. We are not by a longshot. .

To clarify, I was talking more about how things are being run (administration/athletic leadership/coaching) rather than comparing the talent on the rosters. I don't think anyone would trade our roster for RU's (whoever is even left on their roster) at this point.

while we are all down in the dumps over a disappointing 2014/2015 season, I do think there is good reason to have some short term optimism about our team with the kids coming back and hopefully with Gibbs. RU is right now in a very tough spot just because by all accounts one can argue they have deprioritized basketball to a large extent over the next 2 to 3 years.

I can only speak for this RU fan. I think we hit the lottery with the BIG invitation, however I did not expect it to help basketball. Long term it will. When RU finally starts to receive full shares from the conference in six years the amount will be around $40-$50mm.

Until, RU as an institution decides to support basketball the way they do football it will not get better. Barchi announced yesterday that the plan to improve our facilities will be presented to the BOG at the June meeting. I am very interested to see if his plan is the one that Julie Hermann told me about. The time frame matches up to what Julie say, so we shall see.

I have absolutely no faith that we will be any better next season. I really could care less what we do in November, December, and January. Seton Hall has had an absolute cupcake of a non-conference schedule the last 3 seasons which is rarely mentioned. Willard is what like 48-50 overall in the last 3 seasons. That's awful with the non-conference cupcakes that we have played. This head coach has been God awful in the last 3 seasons from February 1st until the end of the season. Why would that suddenly change next season? Because the kids are a year older? Willard is wiser. Why?

I wish I felt half as confident in the leadership and management of the program that I do about the talent. I love the talent on this team, but I have no idea if it'll ever work out because we're like a rudder-less ship at the moment.

What's happened the past two seasons is nauseating. It's been consistent waste of talent. Hence our dilemma.

Forget the cupcakes, the two teams the past two seasons had talent. Even two years ago with the limited guard depth (just Gibbs/Sina), we had a lot of really good players like Teague, Edwin, Oliver, Auda, and Mobley.

I thought we had a group capable of being at least .500 in the BE in both seasons. It's just a really poorly managed operation. That's why we don't perform consistently well or even reach our potential. Forget out exceeding it.

If you were a player for Willard would you have confidence in him ? I've questioned his ability to relate to kids for a couple of years- both with his own players and certainly with his recruiting results. It's now just really coming to the forefront. It's so disappointing to see the BOR and/or Lyons not make a change this year. The numbers of 1.5mm - 4mm for his buyout is astounding. Shame on (fill in the blank) for making such a ludicrous decision. I really look forward to SHU Hoops every year and college basketball. Now I keep hoping I'll visit the website and see the news he resigned.
