Is Kevin Willard the problem?

Let's just fire the guy after multiple years of getting into the tournament. Also, having a very high recruiting rank for next year.

What replacement do you suggest, athletic director?

Yeah we didn't have a good season but this a truck stop bathroom take.

SHU will take a tournament appearance and lose first round and keep him forever
And that is the main problem with fanbase and enough of the population of board members...he is the chef that takes over at the restaurant that finally cooks the proteins well but the potatoes are glue and the sauce runs but the patrons are like well its still a bit better than it was

If you are not going to fire him please hire a coach who knows how to run an offense because he clearly doesn’t.This team needed offense help in the last four games and Willard just didn’t know what to do_One and done in BE tourney will be five loses in a row a forgettable finish to a disappointing season.Willard will likely say it is their second game in 3 days and that is why they lost.He should skip post game show.

It’s not the first 18 point lead squandered - multiple big leads lost. Pretty horrific leadership and game control. I am not a fan of Willard - offense is challenged and he can’t close or finish or control the team. There are never game adjustments that improve results, just robotic substitutions and a crap shoot offense/defense almost every game. Year after year, I don’t see refinements - only recurring issues and warts.

I was at the Wofford NCAA game - they ran circles around us - what else is new? That coach is thriving at Virginia Tech. Can’t put my finger on it, but Danny Hurley, Pikiell, Anderson have something with mojo going that we don’t. We are heading into an abyss for the next few years at least and can’t imagine out recruiting Rutgers, UConn and now Johnnies. Next year is an aberration- hate to be negative but we are no longer NJ tournament team - will be surpassed by Rutgers and in NY by Johnnies. UConn will clean up.

I respect what Kevin has done - NCAAs for 4 years in a row and would have been 5 - but the in game meltdowns are tough. Not sure we can’t keep the momentum with what all the schools around us have done lately.

Isaih Moore didn't play, not sure if he was hurt. Trust me, if he had played, he probably would have had like five dunks on our listless defense.

He played, you should have watched the game. But hopefully you didn’t. For your sanity.

Oh, my bad. I checked his stats on his profile, saw all zeroes on his stat line and assumed he hadn't played.

I mean look, the reality is one really disappointing season is not going to undo everything that's been accomplished the last handful of years. It's just not. It's true for Seton Hall, and it would be true of a Blue Blood as well.

The troubling thing is the way this season ended. It was a total collapse. Just an unmitigated disaster after righting the ship to rebound from a slow start. The way it ended makes me wonder what's really going on. Stuff like this doesn't happen unless there are deep fissures. Something is very wrong. Whether it comes out or not, it needs immediate looking into and fixing.

Please enlighten us with some names. You have nothing. Willard didnt do a good job this year, but hes earned the right to correct this.

Not that I'm advocating for removing Willard. But say the job opens this offseason. Wes Miller at UNC Greensboro, Bob Richey at Furman, Porter Moser at Loyola.

Still making a lot of $$ at Seton Hall. I wish I was screwed like that. Ha. Not leaving any time soon.

It's not mojo, it's recruiting. Willard has gotten very little in since BET win in 2016. If Powell hadn't put us on his back the last two years, we would have been either at or below .500.

Recruiting masks bad coaching. With our talent not there or not have been developed, Willards flaws are very exposed.

it would be very surprising if Willard is fired. If he is not the coach next year it’s more likely because he takes another job but for the people out there asking who would you want to replace him or think there are no good coaches to go after are also wrong. Would need to target a younger coach that would view a Big East job as a big career move. You can bring back Holloway, or Griffin. Try to get Anthony Grant to leave Dayton for the Big East, Wes Miller (UNC Greensboro), Bob Richey (Furman), Toole (Robert Morris), Mcall (UMass), Mason (Wagner), Neptune (7 years as asst. at Nova).
There are plenty of guys that would view Seton Hall and the Big East has a great opportunity.
Again don’t think Willard gets fired, if he should or shouldn’t is everyone’s own opinion. Sure he’s done a great job building the program but I think he has reached his peaked as a coach, but to say there are no other viable options is just as ridiculous.

He shouldn't be fired. He should be criticized! Terrible, terrible job recruiting. Essentially gave Posh to St Johns, got beaten out last minute on Sanogo and coming off a Final 4 contending team completely failed with this recruiting class. Team looked flat and unmotivated toward the end of this season. Threw away games we shouldn't have lost to quality opponents and looks like they didn't show up for Butler and UConn. The performance in the second half versus an undermanned St Johns team showed no poise, no leadership and no guts. Terrible job. He should be taken to task. He can come back from this but can't get a pass on what transpired.
