Laughable...

Gtown, SJU, Louisville and auburn would be who my mind goes to immediately. Willard nor Hurley would ever poach a player from Sha.Where do we think he goes?
G town
Maryland
SEC school
Let’s just go D-2 where student athletes are students. If Coleman leaves can we please clear house. Felt Lyons whoever else. That would be 3 yrs in a row of losing best player.
We are going to have to pay him.He is the only BEstarter we have for next year. The other guys are rotation players until they prove consistently otherwise. We're going to need the $$$ for 4 other BE starters.Heaven help us!
Pitino and Cooley are total snakes.Right that Hurley would never poach from Sha. Willard's papa Pitino did, such a dirty game now.Gtown, SJU, Louisville and auburn would be who my mind goes to immediately. Willard nor Hurley would ever poach a player from Sha.
If we had a player Hurley really wanted he would take him in two seconds.Pitino and Cooley are total snakes.Right that Hurley would never poach from Sha. Willard's papa Pitino did, such a dirty game now.
Disagree totally. If we had a player Hurley really wanted he would take him in two seconds.
Somewhat different scenario, but if you believe our boards we had Sanago signed, sealed and delivered, only for Kimani and Hurley to swoop in at the last minute and steal him.Disagree totally.
Cooley, btw, is apparently a mentor to Sha. Dan posted here a while back that Cooley was someone Sha spoke with often when he took the job, as EC makes it a point to support young AA head coaches.Pitino and Cooley are total snakes.Right that Hurley would never poach from Sha. Yup. Last night was brutal.Less agent and more work on your game IC. Your D needs lots of work
I think it depends on the situation. I don’t think Danny is saying leave Seton Hall come to UConn. But if a SHU player is in a bidding war with other schools, let’s say SJU and Georgetown, and everyone knows he’s leaving SHU, I see Hurley getting involved. But I wouldn’t call it poaching considering the player is leaving here anyway. If we had a player Hurley really wanted he would take him in two seconds.
5-19 didn’t help his cause last night.Less agent and more work on your game IC. Your D needs lots of work
And most were low percentage which is as good as a turnover.5-19 didn’t help his cause last night.

And Pitino has done nothing but publicly try to help Sha so everyone thinks this disaster of a year doesn’t fall on him or hurt his reputation.
I couldn't agree with this more.Coleman has some talent but he really stands out as a decent player on a very bad team, which overrates his value. He's worth trying to keep, but not worth bending over backwards for.
Seeing this news, he's likely good as gone. His scummy agent will drive the bidding.
This is where I'm at with IC. He is a very good second or third option. He absolutely cant be our best (highest paid) player.I couldn't agree with this more.
At Seton Hall we need 1 Myles Powell, Kadary Richmond or Whitehead type. I don't know what the funds will allow but if it allows I'd rather spend $1 million on a player who can absolutely take over the game than 500K on 2 good players.
Since there is now a dollar sign on each of these guys we need to look at comparisons just like real estate..This is where I'm at with IC. He is a very good second or third option. He absolutely cant be our best (highest paid) player.
The optics of once again losing our best player aren't good, but i dont want to be forced into keeping him as our top guy just because it looks bad. You can still send a message that you are serious about playing big time ball without trying to build a team around a guy (and paying him as such) that just doesn't seem suited to it (to me at least).Regardless of how you rate Coleman, bringing him back is an absolute must. For starters, he’s the bird in hand. We know for certain that he’s at worst a top 15 returning BE player who can excel under Shaheen. He has upside for more, but that’s his floor. We won’t find that level of certainty in the portal. He’s also someone the fans have developed an attachment to. He’s someone to root for.
Second, the school really needs to send a message that they are serious about playing big time basketball. They've failed miserably on that front two years in a row, to the point of being publicly mocked by the national media. If it happens again (and losing Coleman would be a terrible start), the Pru will be a ghost town next year. The fans will not stick around if they think it’s hopeless.
That’s only one reason to keep him. Again, portal players are inherently more risky. Look at AJ Storr. Crushed and Wiscy, sucks at Kansas. Myles Rice crushed at Wazzu, sucks at Indy. Maheney crushed at SMC, sucks at UConn. There’s dozens of more examples. The optics of once again losing our best player aren't good, but i dont want to be forced into keeping him as our top guy just because it looks bad. Coleman is a known commodity at SHU. That’s worth a lot to a budget constrained school that cannot afford to miss on their big spends.
You still want to allocate what you’ve got smartly.i thought we were going to have sooo much money
Wish none of out remaining games was televised.... or all on Peacock,Yup. Last night was brutal.
Or go to the Colonial League under the guise (or not a guise....) of concentrating on academics. Wonder if the Colonial would take us?Let’s just go D-2 where student athletes are students.
Are we saying Tyrese was best player? Or are you just exaggerating to make a point? If Coleman leaves can we please clear house. Felt Lyons whoever else. That would be 3 yrs in a row of losing best player.
Was thinking the same thing about Sanogo. Boy did we blow it there. UConn and Danny swooped in like vultures. Our fault though, letting him slip through our fingers and that dope Tony Skin wanting Long over you know who cost us at least a sweet 16 run. One of the worst, most depressing recruiting years I can ever remember.Somewhat different scenario, but if you believe our boards we had Sanago signed, sealed and delivered, only for Kimani and Hurley to swoop in at the last minute and steal him.
Perhaps you think that’s a typical all is fair in recruiting scenario and he would draw a line for a kid actually on our team.
I just don’t see it. It’s not personal. It’s the business and he wants to win games. If Cam Spencer was in the Pirates instead of Rutgers two years ago, I have no doubt Hurley would have taken a kid who was the missing link to their back to back title quest. As it is, he took him from a place he coached (RU) and a coach affiliated with UConn (Pike) who I’m sure he knows.
I don’t see the difference between your hypothetical and what happens in reality with these kids. For example Kadary was leaving here anyway even if he didn’t land at St John’s. The kid freaking visited Duke. Posted here about Miami, Oklahoma and others being involved. Once a kid has handlers or agents starting to reach out - which any kid going into the portal is going to do - it’s fair game. And I think Hurley is like everyone else where he is going to do his job to get the kids he wants.I think it depends on the situation. I don’t think Danny is saying leave Seton Hall come to UConn. Hurley's job, like any other coach, is to win games. If we had a player Hurley really wanted he would take him in two seconds.
Isaiah Coleman is the best player on a bad team. He would not be a top guy on an NCAAT contender. This is where I'm at with IC. He is a very good second or third option. He absolutely cant be our best (highest paid) player.
In my humble opinion if there are 6 players from this year on next years roster the team is back at the bottom of the Big East. That is a recipe for disaster because Sha's loyalty to his players will not allow him to let his guys from this years team that played important minutes ride the bench next season if there is an influx of talent. If we learned one thing from this year is that you cannot let talent and production walk out the door. Zay is talented and productive. You do whatever you can to keep him and go from there. The other players that fit one of those two categories are Prince, Scotty, Felton and Godswill.
On another note and I may get laughed at for this, but I'd take another flyer on Yalden. He is basically playing his first season of college basketball who IIRC had illness at the beginning of the year that affected his conditioning. He looks like he has good fundamentals and plays hard, so I would get him with a trainer over the summer a strict diet and a regimen of HIIT/Weight training and see what happens.
