:oops:Democrats need a plan to do better in the south going forward

Latino vote in the east and southeast where more PR, DR, Cuba and Venezuela people of original are from is far different from rest of SSLA people of origin across the midwest and southwest

Also for as much as dems have trouble with south, reps are bad in northeast and west coast

It would be nice to see supporters of the Democratic party come to the realization that their platform is not what the majority of the US wants, given the 2-3% splits in the popular vote in the last 2 elections, and that was running against an extremely unlikeable opponent. Same for the Republican party, but the condescending talk from the left about very progressive philosophy being what's best for the country is tiring -- and has been beat up pretty good at the polls.

Pollsters are worse than weather people.

Democrats will lose more latin voters if they go more socialist. Interesting to see what Biden does with Bernie and Warren should he finish this off.

Republicans need to realize they are now the party of the working class. More people with pickup trucks have Trump Pence stickers.

I see it differently. Looking at these results, it is clear Republicans need to do something in the South. Florida will always be a swing state, but the GOP is at high risk of losing NC, GA and TX in the next cycle. The signs are there and have been building for a decade. Heck, they might even lose GA this year when everything is counted.

The more the far left loonies talk about this stuff, the more it fires up moderate and conservative people to vote against them. But in the end over the long term, those loud voices will erode their opposition just enough to the point where they can gain power and pass these crazy ideas. Very scary times.

I agree to an extent, dems will lose support of latina who originate in venezuela and cuba

“I’m disturbed by the loss of support in the suburbs,” Mitch McConnell says in a press conference. Interesting insight into the McConnell thought process. “We need to win back the suburbs, we need to do better with college-educated voters than [we’ve been] doing lately and we need to do better with women.” Shades of the 2012 autopsy report (in the sense of reflecting on voters the GOP needs to approach).

How much of a historical election study are you? Carter and Clinton only Dems that have carried southern states in last 40 plus years, both state governors...until TX or NC goes blue republicans have buffer

That is lazy thinking. Republicans should be proactive. All the signs are there that they will be losing support in the next cycle or two.

So do you believe TX and NC can be blue in a presidential cycle before any other southern state withholding Florida can be blue?

Yes. Those two states and/or GA. They've already lost VA, which used to be rock solid Republican for years. That trend will continue south. Things change with every cycle.

Not sure I agree with that. If repubs had a better candidate, those states would not be close to in play.

Never Hillary got Trump elected and now Never Trump may get Biden elected. Neither got elected because of their policies or party.

Virginia was red 68 to 04

That certainly played a role, but I'm looking at the demographics. The people moving to these states are not traditional GOP voters. They are younger, highly educated and often minority. I don't think a "traditional" Republican candidate would appeal to these folks either.

"College educated" is a misnomer. That term actually means upper middle class. Has everything to do with economic place in society and nothing to do with so-called "education". The issues are economic. However the media and politicians love to say that "college educated" people vote for Democrats. It's gaslighting meant to connote that smart people vote for Democrats and dumb people vote for Republicans.
I'm more of a democratic socialist, so I see this almost entirely as a class issue.

Maine 2nd congressional district, Trump gets the electoral vote, house person remains a dem

I do also. They missed the signs in Arizona....and it likely cost them the election.....

I think a number of factors were in play in Arizona. Trump's feud with John McCain I truly believe cost him some votes there. Also a strong democratic candidate running for senate vs. a weak republican probably took votes away. Fewer ticket splitters these days.

Cubans have always leaned Republicans since the Bay of Pigs. I believe they supported Clinton but after Ariel Gonzalez, they have turned their backs against the Dems for good.

Thats parts of 2 generations, i am not familiar with how florida landscape was politically in terms blue or red for governor and state legilstaure or fed senators or Broward, Miami Dade at the time of the Boat Lift events

Wonder why they taped up windows in Detroit election room so people couldn’t see them counting ?

Just researched florida was very blue in the 70s and 80s at senator and gov level, more republican since the j bush movement

Stop. Counting always includes officials from both parties and campaign lawyers.
Republicans are just trying to cause chaos right now.

Merge apparently you think Republican. Pole watcher currently on tv stating he was forced to sit 100 feet away from ballot counting. Is lying. You also think the tv showing taped windows was staged.Wow who is the conspiracy theory guy now ?

Yes. He is lying. I was watching reporting inside the room.

There is one democrat and one republican representative allowed at each table.
Republicans were sending 6-12 people to one table when they already had someone there. They are just trying to cause chaos.

Cubans don’t want socialism which is what they see when they look at the squad for example

Wonder if scotus will look at that 138,000 votes all for Biden that one county sent in.I believe it was In Wisconsin ,but wherever it was should be rechecked because it seems impossible .

It was Michigan and was a typo which was corrected.

In all seriousness, these places all have representation from both parties and double checks on all counts. That’s how this error was identified and corrected. There will not be a material error on the numbers of votes cast.

I disagree with this. Florida voters approved a $15 minimum wage despite going against Biden, Colorado voters approved a paid family leave program, and SD, AZ, and NJ all legalized marijuana.

I don't believe progressive policies are what are turning voters off. In fact, I think democrats need to run on these policies because a lot of them have a plurality of support, and I think running on these policies is a much better case to make to voters than "Orange Man Bad."

Just look at these Fox News polls. These policies are broadly popular!

Florida has a trend of being socially conservative and economically liberal...please for the love of god in 2020 tell me any state that says raising minimum wage is a bad thing?
This is part of the disconnect I have here with people that are republican backers who dislike unions. While unionized labor is now about 10 percent of america down from 20 percent in the early 80s it protects competitive wages for specialized skill and technical roles and helps negotiate collective bargaining agreements for health coverages, annuities and pensions.

The cost of being alive is not decreasing it is increasing.

Some high school kid working at the corner convenient store should be making $15 per hour? How’s McDonalds keeping the $1 menu? Maybe smaller portions? Less workers? Higher wages equals more expensive items or less workers.
The real question is why should there be a federal minimum wage. Cost of living in Nebraska is slightly different than NY. I also question the federal tax code. Why should someone making 100k in NY pay the same as the guy in Nebraska.

So if we raise the minimum wage, are we going to give the guy who makes $50K a raise too? The McDonald's worker doubles his wage with the snap of a finger, immediately devaluing the worker who makes $50K in an office somewhere.

Shu09 a raise of minimum wage is a gradual raise of the floor not one lumpsome come this coming Jan 1. I really question some of your philosophies. This whole country is built on the rich corporations keeping 80 percent of the money and give all the workforce to divide 20 percent amongst the wages.

Did you not have small side jobs in high school or did you caddy at the golf course instead?

Back in my day and its not so long ago minimum wage was 5.15 an hour. I worked at a mom and pop grocery and butcher shop half of my senior year of high school. I then worked at an ice cream shop or parlor for some of our older population here. It was owned by an older senior citizen married couple that previously got screwed being a franchisee of tom carvel. They complained then that minimum wage was too high as it is. Their staff was their lone son who had to be getting salary, me and 3 females all high schoolers. We worked after school til closing and on weekends. The son and the dad handled most of the big projects, the dad's wife did the speciality cakes. Cheapest people i ever met in my life. A plastic spoon fell on the floor, told me to put it in the wash. That place didnt have a dish washer, sometimes i was the dish washer. I get they had expenses for rent at the shopping plaza, city water, electricity and buying product to make all the favors, cakes, sandwiches and other speciality items. They also did events for scouts and birthdays and special occasions.

Comparitively those on here in their mid 40s to 60s and 70s will say they made far less back in the day per hour but everything was so much less expensive then vs now. Gas, milk, subway/bus fare etc. Now its extortion just to get by. The minimum wage worker will not able to surivive in this country in the next 5 to 10 years. Maybe you can let them build a shack on your property out of hay and milk cartons so they can live somewhat comfortable.

Again this goes back to what our arguments have been over the past months, there is significant class and race divide still in this country and neither party has conquered at least in modern generations and 60 year issue.

You are narrowing this to high school kids to side jobs, there are grown adults that are making less than 10 dollars an hour. Tell me what 400 dollars gross a week gets you? I can go to my local home depot tomorrow morning and find grown older adults who lost their job/career working the floor for 9.50 an hour cant tell you shit about a tool or the difference between a wood screw and a masonry screw but they are able and home depot happy to attempt to fill the floor with perceived competency at little labor costs.

I wish I caddied at the golf course! I worked in a supermarket in high school, made something around $6.00/hr. That's who those jobs are designed for. They're not designed to be a full time gig for a mother of three. You learn about how business works, how the world works, etc. It's great for a high schooler to make a few bucks and gain some experience.

I did register on sat mornings and closed on wed and thurs...the mother of the 2 brothers that ran the place accused me every night of shorting the register...people that didnt read the flyer where the store advertisement and the weekly coupons were would try to pass using coupons for the wrong item and then ask for a rain check, no rain checks there. The truckers liked me because this was off 195 and i knew central jersey like back of my hand 21 years ago now. I was a good gps navigator...i guess its a teenage high school rite of passage but thats about it
