Great anti-crime, pro-police, pro small community song and video!!!

The song is now number one on iTunes. I wonder what the over and under is on when they pull it.

The left is trying to frame it as vigilanteism and dismissing the argument for self-defense. They are okay with punks driving by on a motorcycle and shooting old people for no reason.

At some point enough is enough.

It’s a great tune that accurately reflects Life events.

CMT did Aldean a huge favor by banning it. Some of the best songs have lyrics that speak to real issues and strike a nerve. This song does that. Downloaded to one of my Spotify playlists.

not the usual "stay out of politics" view you typically have for entertainers. why the change of heart? hmm

Did he sing about a political party?

If you watch the video and listen to the lyrics there is no mention of politics, but somehow that was your takeaway. hmmm

Are you willing to entertain the possibility that some people would interpret the lyrics as supporting vigilantism?

Absolutely.

But IMO, such an interpretation shows a dark view of the world.

If you Google any song title and add the words "meaning of" to the search words, you will get people's interpretation of a song. You will always find a broad range of interpretations, often not consistent with the artist interpretation.

One of my favorite is the how one interprets "Whole Lotta Love" Does it mean love in your heart or intercourse. If you say love in your heart someone may view you as naïve. If you say intercourse, someone might view you as having your mind in the gutter.

I'd expect hansolo to have opinions on this but he rarely posts anymore.

This is much ado about nothing. There have always been controversial lyrics in all genres. I don’t find this offensive and kind of surprised that a country station banned it. Of course this could be a great publicity stunt. This is dumb to waste a minute thinking about this.

But isn’t that the issue? There’s really nothing controversial about the song, but by CMT pulling it, it became a subject to talk about regarding cancel culture. Aldean is laughing all the way to the bank.

It wasn't just CMT, it was a whole bunch of liberal panty-waists showing righteous indiganation where none exists instead of looking inwards at the message of crime/self-defense.

It's a dark interpretation because it's a dark song. Speaking of dark, did you watch the video?

Jason Aldean is living in a world filled with sucker punchers, car jackers and liquor store robbers. And unlike SPK, I don't view this song as pro-police at all. In fact, the police are absent in this song; either unwilling or unable to do their job. Aldean feels his only way out is with him, his good old boys and his grandfather's gun.

Whatever flaws we have as a county, I don't share his dark and unpatriotic vision of America.

Song sounds like generic country. Musically this wouldn't move the needle if it weren't for the name attached to it. Admittedly, I don't care much for any country music aside from a few songs here and there, but yeah

I've never heard anyone use the term "good ol' boys" without some sort of veiled racial connotation. Considering the lyrics aren't much until attached with all of the subtle racial symbolisms that have come across thanks to the music video. Yeah, this can go kick rocks and anyone that tries to defend it. Go talk to 10 minorities and see how much they share the sentiments some of you have about this song.

And with that, I'll keep my LOTS quota of posts fulfilled. See y'all next year, maybe.

Respect your POV, but I went back and watched and many of the aggressive takes (like spitting at the cop) are perpetrated by Caucasians. Its perspective though so as I am not a minority, the only references to good ole boy I've heard refer to someone born and raised in the South who never ventured far from his hometown and lived a simple life.

Personally IMO this is society today that social media creates a lot of takes and the ones at the extreme ends try to silence versus acknowledge differing POV's. CMT was foolish to cave. The song has a message that resonates. People may agree or disagree, but it’s a message that’s real and is not inciting violence.

if I wanted to make a lot more money, I would write a mediocre song just to incite a side. Get the dumb other side to buy in ‘anger’ protest. Then complain I’m being cancelled, but before that I would boycot something my side likes. I’d also have a buddy write a song protesting my song. Create longevity. Suck as much cash out of this as possible.

Also, isn’t Aldean from Nashville? Maybe he’s just remembering a small town.

It great how charged up the left can be from a song ,but no concern about sumner riots.

it’s a lie. He can’t afford a T-shirt, let alone 4.
Will Ferrell Loser GIF

listened to the song. country is so cringey lol. thhis is def the white boy anthem. how butthurt would his snowflake fans get if someone made an opposite song with video clips of jan 6 or ahmad aubery? saw commentary that arbery tried jogging in a small town and look how that went for him. those people in georgia really "taking care of their own" . again, convienently this board forgets about their stance of entertainers shutting their mouths.

btw jason aldean isnt even from a small town. neither was the loser blasting this in (checks notes) Ocean City new jersey on asbury ave.

credit to him for makign a song sure to blow up. like fish in a barrel. its not offensive by any means, but definitely charged. pretty funny how many people commenting on the youtube about "being black and loving this song!!"

Exactly. The alternate title was Grifting and Pandering.
