Jerry on Richmond Saturday

Hey, we're going to have a near-full house on Saturday! Awesome. Dreading the UConn game, where many season ticket holders may bail for the money.

The best revenge would be to send Pitino and Kadary out with a loss. We are due to pick one of these better teams off.

Welcome to the pro ranks. He’ll be booed. This will be our Super Bowl in a lost year. All the venom can be shot that direction.

Once a Pirate always a Pirate! Not many of us would turn down $1 million for one season nor would we advise one of our children to do the same. I will hope the Hall wins and Kadary does well!

I will react to his being announced Saturday night like I do to other opposing players. I will not pay attn and will talk to my friends.

I have watched a few SJU game specifically to see KR play. I am kinda surprised, but the lower usage at SJU pisses me off. I feared him ripping it up with even better stats than what he did here, and reading that rp made him a star, when he was doing exactly what he did here. But, he IS doing exactly what he did here, just less frequently. The guy making the decisions is ricky p, and I am me. So I take my thoughts about this with a grain of salt.

Hard for me to understand how no one can get him to be an acceptable 3 pt shooter. He was OK as a jr, we took away the hitch (limited usage) and he got worse last year, and now he is worse than last year. Guys like Jason Kidd and Magic had no shot in college and became acceptable 3 pt shooters with work. John Morton made himself a 1st round pick one summer by working on his shot.

My guy Morton!!!

Jerry’s articles in carrying the water are borderline hilarious sometimes. The Wusu paragraph too - care to elaborate a bit more on the context and reason Jerry, because I’m sure you know even more about it, lol.

I once told John at a chance encounter that his step back three in the NC game was the second most exciting sports play I ever say, only behind Gibson's homer vs Oakland. And as Dodger fan, now its down a peg under Freddie's HR too...

Jerry points out the obvious. We have a mature fan base. One of the main reasons our home court sounds like a library most of the time.

To make matters worse rumors started to swirl that he was transferring to St John’s long before the season ended.

I want all these kids to get as much money as possible and if St John’s was the highest bidder so be it. This is business. However, the manner in which this went down (i.e. committing to St. John’s before entering the portal) leaves an EXTREMELY sour taste in my mouth. Plus the comments he made in his exit interview really ticked me off.

I’m not mad at Kadary for going to Saint John’s (I would have to), I’m mad for the way he handled it. Couldn’t have been done in a worse way.

What's the point of digging up that dirt?
How I read the article, he was bringing that up to highlight the difference in the situation and create this higher moral ground for his employer. Just be an intellectually honest journalist. Is it the same thing? Of course not. But it's not apples and bowling balls either. We would have taken DAW even if we knew Pitino wanted the kid back -- and for all we know he might have, but was unable to because of the issue that has been reported here numerous times, and was public during his recruitment to Seton Hall.

I think most every fan feels this way on some level. Who knows with the rumors, and I highly doubt they were the highest bidder, but him leaving was never going to be something that made us fans feel good, because it just highlights the crappy landscape college basketball has become.

Gibson's HR was one of those "you remember where you were moments". I was pretty young still, and yet I can picture with detail exactly where I was and what I was doing.

You must really believe in miracles! Padre Pio would have to be present in referee uniform to throw up the tip. 😂

The wusu situation was completely different in my opinion. Pitino was hired and kicked everyone off the team except Soriano.

In pitinos defense he’s 70+ years old. He couldn’t afford to do a slow rebuild. He needed his players - not holdovers.

I don't; players "getting as much money as possible" has ruined college sports -- and we're only seeing the beginning of it. It's ironic that him going to St. John's is what's upsetting people -- not the system that made it possible.

I know most believe it is completely different, and it fits the narrative folks on here like to create about our program operating on a higher moral ground than others. But we don't know, and I'm not so sure it's altogether that different. Pitino definitely cleaned house, but I don't believe he wanted to bring in literally an entire new team, especially when you look at some of the kids they brought in via the portal. It wasn't like that roster was littered with superstars. AJ Storr and David Jones left -- those guys were legit big time high major scorers. Posh is at worst a useful high major player. DAW had 3 years of BE experience under his belt and pretty decent numbers. Everyone here concludes Slick didn't want him to stick around a year, but it's just as possible he would have kept him but couldn't. And no one here cared one bit what the reasons were, because Sha wanted him.

How about both? I’m pissed that the system sucks & Im also disappointed that Richmond went to St. John’s.

You are correct; I guess I should have said that if you're one of these guys who thinks these players should go to the highest bidder, you don't get to complain about it when our guys leave simply for more cash.

There’s no way the guys who were in the SJU program in the final days of Mike Anderson were going to be able to comply with Pitino, IMO. And if you’re Rick, which one of them was worth putting all that effort into and why? This is Free Agency man. The system goes both ways. You’re not stuck with making it work with them anymore.

Personally, I cannot see Rick coexisting with some of the names on this list, including DAW. DAW’s play style would drive Rick bonkers if he was anything more than the 7th or 8th man like he’s been here. Not to mention the off court stuff where SJU tried holding Anderson accountable.

The rumors that Willards was leaving were far more obvious.

I think the whole situation will get him booed. The fact that it’s St. John’s and Repole’s comments only make it more salacious. How ironic the rumored back issue/general soreness began with him hitting the floor in the blowout win over SJU lats year. Then the Creighton 3OT loss later that week and then Kadary checked himself out for 2 games at the last minute.

Richmond was an outstanding player for The Hall and it sucks the system generates this crap now but that’s what they wanted. Again, in 45 years of being a BE charter member we’ve had had a grand total of 12 players earn 1stTeam All-BE honors. He is one of them. He was a huge factor in getting us to the 2022 NCAA Tournament after Aiken went down, we were still in NCAAT contention in 2023 until he injured his back and missed the final 6 games. We all know about last year which in most years would’ve been another NCAAT season. So it sucks he’s going to get the reception he will, but that’s what this system generates now.

Please boo him everytime he touches the ball,He screwed us this year.Doesn't need to be a rational reaction.

You are mistaken. It's pretty well known that Pitino did want to bring in an almost entirely new team.

Also Wusu had a fight with a team manager and reportedly knocked him unconscious. The previous coach and AD were in hot water for not taking action to investigate/discipline Wusu. By the time Pitino came in, St John's had decided to part ways with Wusu.

So there is absolutely no comparison with what Pitino did to steal Kadary from us. Reports are that Pitino was making offers by November of Kadary's last season with us, well before the season ended. Pitino is a classless man.
