We, Jerry Carino, I and others in the media are waiting for a date for SHU Media Day. Probably early October. The idea is to have an informal gathering at one of the South Orange pubs after the basketball program's Media Day.
Separately, the school will be dedicating a plaque to JP in the media room at the Prudential Center at one of the early November games.
Jerry and I have been in contact with JP's family and they will be attending.
Amazingly JP's siblings had no idea at all re his accomplishments. They knew he was a sportswriter but that was it. Similar to when his family told me about his academic accomplishments in HS and college.
JP seldom if ever spoke about himself. He was a proud but quiet man. He never made anything about himself.
