I used NCAA data with my soccer teams to show parents how difficult it is to make it. That wasn't meant to discourage them as much as it was to set a benchmark.

I ended up with one girl playing Div. II soccer and she was a star, but eventually focused on her school work. It's a lot to play and maintain athletic discipline, not to mention all the other distractions.
