Knicks

Well, after watching 2&1/2 games of this series who do you trust has the ability to
score clutch points? Who has the ability to create their own shot? Who has the ability to consistently hit the 3?
Yes, he can create his own shot and is clutch at the FT line. Just think he can be better if he makes the extra pass at times.

Haliburton's daddy is allowed back in the building (weak, should have been banned) after verbally abusing Giannis at the end of the Bucks series. I really dislike this Indy team lead by the Choker. Hope the Knicks beat these creeps and bring the series back to NY tied at 2.

Haliburton with an all time performance 32/13/15 with ZERO turnovers. Brunson has been good but there’s no question in my mind that Haliburton is the better of the two.

They are two different players. Haliburton is a tremendous 3 point shooter as well as good all around. Brunson is more bully ball even though he’s 6’1” and also very good all around player. Let’s face it, Brunson has to do more for this Knicks team than Haliburton has to do for the Pacers. Where would the Knicks be without him. Imagine if Brunson had a couple reliable 3 point shooters on the wings. Bridges hasn’t been bad but he has been a disappointment IMO.

I get what you’re saying, but I think Haliburton does way more to make the supporting cast look better. Handling the ball as much as he did tonight and having zero turnovers is incredible. Not a knock on Brunson either. Haliburton is just taking his game to another level.

its crazy because haliburton looks like a random guy off the street. and his form is funky. but that's an incredible statline.

indiana isn't ripe with stars, theres nobody near KAT level on indiana.

I am not having one game decide who is better, but that is some stat line.

No defense, no championship.
I have watched snippets of most of the games. They just arent drawing me in for some reason. But re D, can anyone actually defend someone who drives anymore with out fouling?

Yes they can. The better question is can anyone defend someone who drives the lane without the refs calling a foul every time?

Hot takes on hump day

Knicks play accidental basketball on offense

The wings are guards are not good enough at shuffle to open space catch and shoot 3s

Not enough bigs/height in this rotation on D

Put a lot of future draft capital into bridges acquisition and seems like the ceiling is ECF

East only going to be tougher going forward

I wonder how many MJ and Kobe would score if they beat their man and no center was waiting for them?
Jordan and Kobe had counters in their offensive repitriore...right now each of them would minimally average 45 points a game in this mode of mostly accidental offense

Same here. I just watch the last quarter most games. Problem with the Knicks is that their two best offensive players are defensive liabilities. They definitely have that championship spirit though. I wouldn't count them out just yet.

I find the NBA more watchable, maybe because I am so discouraged watching CBB, but its hard to watch when there is a foul stoppage on almost all possessions. 71 foul shots is a hard watch.

No one draws and simulates fouls better than Jalen. He could have a future in Italian Serie A soccer.

I gotta push back on good all around player - Brunson is objectively bad on defense to a point where his +/- is not very good in the playoffs. Its kinda ironic he needed to leave Dallas because Luka was so ball dominant - that's what Brunson turned into. A ball dominant scorer whose very clutch but is bad on the other end.

Now with that said, I think with the right offensive system he can adjust his offensive game....but I don't see that happening under Thibs. They'll need to either shake up the starting 5, hire Malone, or both. Not saying that is likely just what I think they need to do. I don't know if I'd trade a wing like Bridges until I see him under a new coach.

Glad to see Carlisle get his flowers above, he's an excellent coach and I though the coaching advantage was with the Pacers heading into this series and sort of discounted.

If I sound like a Thibs hater, I'm not....he's his own worst enemy. Too stubborn to make adjustments when needed in the playoffs and his refusal to try different lineups during the regular season leaves him little knowledge or confidence on what potential moves to make (like playing Wright and Shamet together)

Carlisle one of 14 to have a ring as a player and head coach...Chuck Daly recommended him to PJ

Good point about defense. I was only thinking about offensive skills. Clearly, the Pacers are hunting Towns and Brunson on defense.

Brunson is a great scorer and competitor but Haliburton is by far the better all around player. Biggest difference in this series was Haliburton was a menace defensively while Brunson was a liability.

I don’t see the Knicks getting any further with this current core.

I forget which player it was, but they said MJ would average 40 easily in this league. This is exactly why. He was masterful getting by his defender, and now nobody is meeting him at the rim most of the time? Please. There's a reason the Pistons came up with the Jordan rules to try to stop him.

Post mortem - need more bigs, shooters and players that can defend position less basketball

This is "Pro" basketball. If you can't make 3 pointers or free throws you don't deserve to win and you are not a champion caliber team. If they don't fix that they will never be champions.

Jordan didn't win until Tim Grover showed him he needed to improve upper body strength

Watch the documentary on the Pistons. NBA change the rules to make it a much more offensive league.

And if the Knicks didn’t blow a 14 point lead with under 3 minutes left in an historic 4th quarter collapse in game 1, they may very well be one game away from the NBA finals. But let’s not forget, this is the Knicks first conference final in more than a quarter century. They have improved every year under Thibs.

Totally agree the Knicks need more consistent 3 point shooting on the wings and more depth on the roster. Bridges needs to be more physical at the rim and I’m not sure if the 6”4’ Hart who can’t make 3s with any regularity really fits what the team needs going forward.

Yet another game Indiana was like mid-50s in shooting %.

Remember when Carlisle was a defensive coach back in the day with the Pistons? Ofc the sport had totally changed since then but the Pacers are such a high octane offense.

The Pacers are simply a better all-around team than the Knicks. Deeper, better shooters, better ball movement.

I feel like they decided to make this move now at least in part because they would like a shot at Johnnie Bryant and he is a finalist for the Suns job. Keep in mind that Rick Brunson is on staff and whoever takes that job probably is going to keep him on...

Thibs didn’t deserve to be fired but this was also a move that the Knicks needed to make if they want to win a championship.

It still could easily backfire depending on who they hire. Hopefully won’t touch Hurley with a 10ft pole.

Terrible move and a sure sign that dolan is alive and well. Of course he does this. the knicks may never have ever made The Finals with Thibs, but this particular group(even with a few upgrades) sure as f*** ain’t ever going there without him. Talk about throwing the coach who made them worth a damn again under the bus. I will enjoy watching the knicks lose in the first and second round(and probably the the play-in round) for years to come. Say goodbye to being relevant.

SMH….guy has the best two year run as any recent NYK coach and gets canned. This is the insanity of pro sports now.
