KW 100th Win

Unfortunately, every year there are dozens of kids who make the leap to the next level, even when they have no business doing so. Look, Isiah is playing himself into the first round, and if a kid leaves when he's being told he has a great shot at being a first round pick, all the more props to him. Guaranteed money in that scenario. If you aren't a first round lock, better to stay in school and improve IMO. Delgado falls into that territory. That said, it wouldn't surprise me, and I've heard repeatedly from those associated with NY/NJ hoops that both kids may leave if they have good season, which they both clearly are.

The above is what made the Kris Dunn situation so surprising. He was a lock first round pick last year, and yet he returned to school. That rarely happens these days. He is obviously gone after this year, and if I were a Providence fan I'd be concerned about Bentil leaving as well. He is built to play the 4 in the current NBA.

Unless Delgado plans on playing in Europe or Latin America next year. He's going nowhere.

I agree that he isn't ready for the pros, if he will ever be. My point is that this has been a growing trend -- look at the list of kids declaring early every year, and you'll see plenty who should have never left but decided it was better to further their development in the D-league or overseas, focusing full time on hoops with professional development, and getting a paycheck.

What's hard to take with the adulation of this arbitrary 100-win mark is the atrocious conference record and lack of a single even .500 conference season in his tenure. Part of the story too.

Hopefully that's all changing as a win tomorrow at MSG which at least will leave us no worse than 9-9 in the league.

No doubt the first 5 years wasn't anywhere near what we thought. And of course a large part of that falls on coach. But he brought in Antigua and then Tiny to land players, and as much as I may have wished we could win a different way, the strategy has worked. Let's hope the next 100 are much quicker and that this years success can provide a path towards continued stability and success, even if the roster looks different next year.

I agree with you, dehere. Now that they're winning, the winning has to open the door to the same caliber of recruits to establish a truly successful program versus just random good years few and far between.

I'm very encouraged by what we've seen this year. How could anyone not be? Glad to see it and hope it continues. We've dealt with losing for far too long.
