For SHU to have any hope of finishing above 8th or 9th in the league, we need a forward to step up. Ish looked determined and motivated in the scrimmage. Had 11 rebounds, and looked very good at the charity stripe. Had Nice rotation on his shot and made both free throws.

Would like to see the coaches develop a mid-range game from Ish - Anyone remember Gordon Winchester? Became PJ's lock down defender drawing the toughest forwards to guard. Had a nice jump shot from within 15 feet. Nothing spectacular, but solid - and made his name defensively while averaging about 10-12 points per game.

Gordon never missed a corner jumper. If we get another kid who develops like Gordon we will be fortunate. Btw, Gordon in his first yr playing -1990 - looked like a waste of a scholarship. Then he was great for 2 yrs.

For a kid who played just 96 minutes last season - 21 of which came in that bizarre start at Butler - the more he does the more he develops. No clue how he'll factor in when the real games start, but good for him on having a good game.

Remember that - then he was shutting down the likes of Malik Sealy. PJ taught defense, and I remember Gordon saying how bad of a defender he was his freshman year - and how hard he worked to turn it around.

Not a lot of positives at the game Saturday. One was Whitehead's play at the 2 and another as noted above was Ish's excellent game. His D was outstanding even when switching on Baruch's small and lightning quick guards.

Still a work in progress on offense but with the 4 being so important this was a good showing for the sophomore.

From just the boxscore, Whitehead and Sanogo were the only two that played well. Against a Div 3 team. Yikes!!!

Carrington had a decent game too, but that was it.

Team will need a 3rd scorer after our two guards. Delgado will be a possibility and so will Singh, a standstill shooter with ridiculous accuracy.

That said, this team has to play defense to win. That won't see teams like Baruch again, but the teams they will see although probably not shooting with the same accuracy will be far, far more talented.

Scrap the idea that three guards is the way to go. (Scrap the offense too...lol dadumdum) Hope that Desi is way more than he showed and learned his lesson. I didn't notice that he shot every time he got the ball, I only remember one three that he missed from the same corner where Soffer missed badly. But if he did shoot it indiscriminately and against orders, he has to sit, like I said Jrob should have sat years ago. Coach has to be in charge, like Hackman playing four guys. Till Singh is healthy, based on Saturday, I hope to see Desi, Ish and Nzei play forward. Hopefully one of the bigger guys shows himself deserving of time as the games progress but I didn't see much to make me excited.

I guess no one has a timeline on Veer's return?

Is a foul committed by/against Anderson called a tort?

Based only on the box score, he was terrible.
KC was not awful, but I did not think he played very well. He made some of those incredible twisting drives and also drove into three guys for a tie up. But not a good game. Compared to the rest, he was good though.

That's why I said decent.

Certainly not worthy of special mention but he did score 15 points with 6 assists and 4 steals (would have been much more if we pressed throughout). On the downside he had 5 turnovers trying to do too much.

He's ran the point most all game and he's really not a PG. So early on he deserves some slack for being forced to play out of position.

Carrington did not play particularly well.

Desi didn't start, played 12 minutes and only took three shots total. All that tells me there was a message being sent to DR.

I have little concern that we didn't get Myles Carter in the game.

Delgado was atrocious. If that was the only game you ever saw him in, you would never think he was anything but a scrub. Let's hope it was an aberration.

IW scored 40 and didn't really hog the ball. It was a strong performance from him, although as a PG he remains a work in progress.

Based solely on the scrimmage, Sanogo will be the starting PF. He is weak offensively but was active throughout. I will live with his mistakes if he maintains that energy level.

Losing Singh for two weeks is a big blow for meshing this offense which Carino called chaotic but in a way was worse than that.

The defense was the worst I have seen from a Seton Hall team in some years. It's early, but it seemed like continuation of last year when we let teams score at will and at a ridiculous FG percentage (excluding the early season run). We defended the 3 well early on, but even that got worse as the season wore on.

Unless two more players rise up to surprise - Veer/Desi/Ish - we have two offensive weapons in Whitehead and Carrington and limited options elsewhere. It will be a VERY long season.

Delgado seemed to be in a daze - looked a step slower with not nearly the bounce he had last year. Maybe the weight he put on is slowing him down. Heard Willard during media day express how disappointed he was that Delgado played in the Pan Am games (think that's where he played) - said he was happy he played for his country - but the summer was lost from a training perspective. It sure looks like that's the case. Well at least we have him for another year!
