I agree with you about the offensive scheme but must add another reason for it is we do not have a down the field receiver. One of the things I hope and believe will be solved in the draft or free agency .Giants can’t have a losing season now and still in playoff hunt something that very few Giants fans predicted for this season. Their offensIve scheme was designed to minimize mistakes by their QB and Jones executed that scheme well enough to get them to where they sit today.
The G-Men got the whistle on those last two plays for sure. The illegal formation was a joke the receiver was telling the official he was on- very technical for a 3rd and goal, and the missed DPI was a total gift.Daboll getting lemonade out of lemons. So many stupid plays just like SHU basketball. The board is always talking about the refs here and the NFL refs on the last series of the game by Washington were ridiculous.
Also I would like to hear Dan and Tom's take on the Jets. Wilson played much better yesterday and they really missed an opportunity.

Thibodeaux has all the skills to not only be an All-Pro but a real difference-maker on defense. The one issue I see with him is that he doesn’t give 100% on every down. I agree with your observation that coaching has been a key factor in the Giants results to date and I would just add that the players buying into what the staff asked of them also was important.I was literally on the edge of my seat. Thibodeaux looked like a first round draft choice last night. Let's hope we see that again, and he's not the Giants version of Kadary Richmond. How good would it be if both played the rest of the season like their last game. Outside chance we can win 2 out of our next 3. Shows you what good coaching can bring, thank god for Wink. Playing to win what a concept. Thibodeaux forcing that fumble and then recovering it for a touchdown, what a play! Something dare I say looked very LT like. Long way from that comparison but dam I had goose bumps. Never be another LT, but I would be thrilled with half an LT.
I agree with you point for point but he is so young you have to give him some time to improve, which will not happen in a playoff atmosphere. You just can't cut bait again after two years. Some QB named Rodgers sat on the bench for years before he became a viable option.I’ll make no secret about it.
Wilson is not the answer and his performance yesterday did nothing to change that in my eyes. Let me explain.
People are going to point to the improved counting stats. However, Wilson was really only successful on throwing vertical routes yesterday. It is tantalizing, exciting, and shows off his gifted arm strength. What he didn’t show improvement on was his decision making and ability to make the other required NFL throws.
Let me illustrate:
1. I put the punt return TD kind of on him. 3rd and long from their 1 and he throws a slant pattern way behind his receiver. If the pass is executed correctly, it’s either a first down or significant breathing room to punt. Instead no room to kick, rushed punt, short low kick, and the disaster ensued.
2. Short swing pass early in the game to Berrios on a blitz package. One on one in the flat with a LB coming over late. If Berrios catches that ball and makes his man miss, he had 30 yards of open field. However, he bounces the throw 2 yards short with the pressure from the blitz having not gotten there.
3. If I have to point out the interception that led to Detroit’s 13-10 lead is an abomination of a throw, then we just aren’t watching the same game and fans have very low expectations of what a good NFL quarterback is.
4. Go back and watch the game again. How often on all the other throws, where he had to hit guys in tighter windows or crossing routes was he off. And I don’t mean like it was off the receivers finger tips. I am talking about grossly missed by several yards, behind, too far in front, or over their heads.
Detroit beats teams in shootouts and the Jets only managed 17 points at home against this porous defense. And in reality the D only gave up 13 points. The Jets needed to win that game and Wilson was probably the main reason they lost. If you want to find silver linings then as long suffering Jets fans you get what you deserve at this point.
He did not take any plays off last night and was going about 200%. He chased down the RB way down the field on several plays and prevented TH from scoring a TD on the last drive. They even have him playing in coverage on a lot of plays. I was shocked that he was not even more gassed last night.Thibodeaux has all the skills to not only be an All-Pro but a real difference-maker on defense. When you’re evaluating a QB there are two key areas that dominate what you look for , I.e. Delivery and Processing and I see his lack of consistency in both areas. What’s frustrating to watch is you can see him deliver the ball on target and move the move the chain . Then the next series of downs he’ll miss his target time and time again and the Jets are forced to p And it’s the similar problem when it comes to processing. He is young and the remaining games , if he starts , could decide his future.Daboll getting lemonade out of lemons. So many stupid plays just like SHU basketball. Agree. The penalty on their TD was a clear penalty called as soon as the ball was snapped. Their WR was trying to tell the WR next to him to step up and get on the line - he didn't - clear penalty. The PI was the major missed call. Why should ref have to tell the WR where he should line up? That's just a piss poor excuse for a boneheaded play. He was clearly not on the line of scrimmage. On the last play where the PI wasn't called, Thibs clearly got poked in the eye & had to pull up. Clearly a missed hands to the face along with the PI miss.
Refs were really bad all night. A number of calls had to be overturned after review.
As for the OP, I think the game plan was designed to account for an inferior O line more so than Jones. Last time Giants played Washington the O line was awful. Other than the first series the O line played much better last night.
Not sure how our CBs or anyone in the league for that matter can cover Jefferson. He is a stud and the best receiver in the NFL IMO. Catches everything in his area and can run after the catch.Vikings are a bad matchup for the Giants. Similar to the Lions. Very good offense & lousy defense. Unless the defense has a great performance, the Giants don't have enough fire power on offense to stay with them.
For me Jones is delivering the ball most of the time. Hard to gauge what the head coach feels about him. They don’t really throw the ball down field nor take a chance on sending one of their receivers deep to make a play the way other teams do to us.. Hard to put up a volume of TDs doing dink and dunk, but it has worked as far as winning some games,The Giants desperately need Adoree Jackson and Xavier McKinney back. That'll be a huge boost with how well the d-line is playing. I would expect the final home game next Sunday (1/1/23) against the Colts to be the clincher.
Really curious as to what Shoen/Daboll think of Daniel Jones now. To Jones' credit, he's managed their game plan very well all season despite throwing to the likes of Isaiah Hodgins and Richie James most of the time. They know the limitations of their skill players and do not put the ball at risk. Smart.
