Mamu and SHU offensive options

Ok so i saw some really great glimpses of things last night that make me excited if we put them altogether. ill list it below. but first a big one is MAMU. We all know that we dont have anyone that can stay with the ball in the post. Mamu showed some stuff last night that seemed so simple.

hes not over indexing on size, speed, skill, but he has all of them in a very sound way. last night we were having scoring trouble and we fed him down low. he took a few dribbles backing up. one fake and then turned the other way for an easy bucket. thats an effortless bucket when in doubt. we dont have that from anyone else. he also can get nice drives using the glass, and of course finish alley oops. if his shot goes down thats a cherry on top. only knock is his FTs. now imagine the passing options down there. kick it out for an open 3 or even an alley oop big man to big man.

So with that is another option for our offense. the reason weve been a but underwhelming on that side is because we are letting the defense take out multiple options without having a counter. we have a bunch of games before the tournament but this is what i see that can be utilized depending on which poison the defense picks:

Powell penetrate to create
Powell penetrate to score
Powell penetrate to draw fouls
Powell fast break finishing
Powell X factor doing anything
Gil PnR
Gil fed dunk down low

Gil/Ike put back
Rhoden 3 pt shot (getting better)
Rhoden drive and pull up jumper
Rhoden cut to rim for finish
Rhoden offensive rebound and put backs
Rhoden fast break finish?
Cale 3 pt shot (when he finds it)
Q penetration and creating for finish (hes coming into his own scoring wise)
Q penetration for creating offense
Q 3 pt shot (!!!!! this would be a massive new tool)
Q drawing fouls
Q facilitating fast break
Mamu post play
Mamu drives
Mamu fed for finish down low
Mamu offensive rebound and put backs
Mamu press break down
Samuel fake and drive for dunk or dish
Samuel good for one 3 pointer
Reynolds foul shooting
Nelson used to penetrate tough defenses, paused for now.

if they take one or two out, our job is to hit them with the rest. THAT is the way to survive in the tournament.

While Gill and to a much lesser degree Ike have given us more of an inside game than we had early in the year, neither one of them is passing the ball out of the post.

Sandro's passing ability, like Delgado's, allows for the option to kick it back outside for an open three.

Very simple. With Sandro and Rhoden at the forward spots you now have 4 offensive players on the court at one time. So if the D wants to take Gill and the pick and roll out and also wants to concentrate on Powell you have other high quality offensive options on the court.

A prime example of that happened about 2 minutes into last night's game when Powell set a pick and then rolled to the basket. Both defenders followed him leaving Rhoden open for an uncontested three and a 9 point lead.
