Mark Bryant

Mark was the guy who turned the corner for Seton Hall-his successful recruitment ushered in a new era for us in the league.

He, along with James Major and Martin Salley, gave us credibility.

The following year, we struck paydirt-it started with Gerald Greene, then John Morton, Darrell Walker, then capped it off with an unknown pivotmen named Ramon Ramos!

Oh, how the Big East bullyboys must have hated us; how dare we challenge their superiority! I attended my 1st BE Tourney game Mark's Senior Yr. GTown, and in the 2nd Half, we blew them up. Thompson tried his tough guy press against us, and Pookey Wigington ate them alive.

We beat them handily. And away we went. All the way to 1989, then the 1991 BE tourney. And for 30 yrs, Seton Hall continued to battle on even terms with all the league powerhouses.

But now times have changed. The small Parochial campus on So Orange Ave. can't possibly compete with their rivals and their billionaire benefactors. So, here we are, at another crossroads, and my opinion is, Seton Hall has the right guy in control; we just must be patient; we probably suffered a poor recruiting period while we were competing in the NIT; while we were preparing to play games, the sharks [and their unlimited benefactors], were ravaging the transfer market.

Be patient with Shaheen, he's our guy. We will be back.

I would love to know what players we lost out on due to the NIT run. The two we could use were right under his nose the whole time.
