Gregg Marshall has reached an agreement in principle to remain at Wichita State with a substantial raise, multiple sources told CBSSports.com on Wednesday.
This development ends Alabama's pursuit of Marshall.
Sources told CBSSports.com that Marshall's new deal is for seven years.
He'll earn more than $3 million per year.
Alabama is the latest of many so-called Power-5 jobs Marshall has passed on -- joining a list already featuring Missouri, Tennessee, N.C. State and California. The 52-year old has taken Wichita State to four straight NCAA Tournaments, earned a No. 1 seed, made the Sweet 16 twice and advanced to the 2013 Final Four. He'll have a preseason Top 25 team again next season, provided Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker return for their senior years.

Good for him. I like it when the big boys don't get their way. Money is great but its not everything. And Marshall will continue to be the king in Wichita.

Money is the main reason he's staying.

I'd like to put both the Koch Brothers and George Soros in a room and lock it forever. Both sides have their demons and these folks are them.

Willard told him it's always best to stay put and honor your contract.

That is some serious cash! Mid-major schools paying like the big boys. The skyrocketing salaries of coaches is incredible. How do schools compete in this arms race?
