I agree good article.
Obviously these alienated people have always existed, but the breakdown of community, education, religion & family have allowed this to get much worse. Used to be much better support system of caring neighbors, close family and extended family.
Then things like texting, email and the internet have further cut people's social interactions, leading to futher isolation.
