I dont watch the Knicks much, but after two 20 pt comebacks vs the defending champ Celts, hard to say they cant close a game.

OK I would say those on the court and lack of free throw success was a cause to that as was the terrible possession under 2 min in the 4th when kat missed the 3. Had the Knicks even made 2 more free throws in the 4th quarter a different result.

It was the terrible coaching they received at Villanova not Willard. lol

They simply blew the lead on the court and let Haliburton do whatever he wanted. Similar to how the Knicks gained confidence against the Celtics, they let the Pacers steal the game. Not well executed by any of the players on the Knicks.

The real question that should be asked is "were they tired from the pace that they don't play at too often and high scoring? Should be interesting to see if they slow the pace a little and play at their speed. As Barkley mentioned at the half, the Pacers high scoring and running approach was what was happening on the court and that's not the Knicks game.

Knicks really overachieved in my opinion. I think a strong argument could be made that Knicks should have lost first round to Detroit. Detroit blew that series and Boston blew conf semis. Our beloved Knicks are playing with house money - they are statistical anomalies to an extreme degree.

Detroit was the better team in 5 of the 6 games. They won two games outright, and in three of their four losses they had live 4th quarter odds to win of 85%, 94%, and 93%. Thats called blowing a series.

Boston was the better team in 4 of the first 5 games. We had back-to-back 20-point comebacks in game 1 and 2, then Boston went on to win games 3 and 5.

BTW, got to say I absolutely hate that punk Haliburton and that goes for his low class trash daddy too. The choke thing after the tying shot really annoyed me. In case the Knicks needed extra motivation I'd have a poster of that put up in the locker room for the rest of the series. In the old days you'd have an Oakley or Mase knocking him into a stanchion next game.

As a Bulls fan, I would take Thibs back in a heartbeat. I always thought he was the only good coach the Bulls hired after the dynasty era. There may come a time, in the not too distant future, where the majority would take the Willard era back, in a heartbeat, again.
