Wife and I were shopping at two large retailers yesterday and heard plenty of "Merry Christmas's" going around... from the clerks to the customers standing in the long lines..... haven't heard so many "Merry Christmas's" uttered out loud in a public place for some time.... it was nice.

Funny, I said Merry Christmas to someone the other day and their response was "Thank you for saying that"....had it gotten that bad???

Thought "Happy Holidays" was the PC verbiage these days to use towards someone you don't know. :)

It seems to me that this topic is a lot of talk about nothing. Whether one says Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, Happy Hanukah,Happy Kwanzaa or something else along this line it is a greeting or pleasantry that should be answered in kind. I usually say Merry Christmas but will use Happy Holiday or Happy Hanukah (if I know the person is Jewish) and use the greetings interchangeably. It is not meant as an insult to anybody. It is just a seasonal greeting. I certainly do not ask anyone their religion or ethnic background before greeting them. What I do object to is anyone telling me what I should or should not use as the seasonal greeting at all times.

Agree. Was half joking and one can go crazy trying to keep up with the PC verbiages of things these days.

Saying "Happy Holidays" has been ingrained in my mind for a while now though. Probably a function of the work environment I've been in since graduating.
