Mitch McConnell health episode

120 year old senators don't just have health problems! something nefarious must be up....

Term limits should be standard for senators and representatives ,but since they have to vote it in it will never happen.Same thing for flat tax, politicians don’t want it because it eliminates campaign contributions designed to push new tax deductions or maintain current ones.

seriously though the decrepit relics in our govt are a massive problem.

The American voter can decide when a person is too old or served too many terms. Term limits is a dumb idea. Just an idea because people want something different. If the voters of that state do not want a change then so be it.

Change for change sake. Is not an answer. Quite frankly the experience and stability are important. So América would be better for not having Barry Goldwater, John McCain, and Hubert Humphrey? Yes there are always going to be people who hang on too long like Feinstein. But who is at fault here? The voters and the Party. Age and longevity is not the issue. It’s competence and the voter. All of you are saying that the American voter can’t be trusted. That’s a dangerous slope.

Term limits and age limits are two different things.

We should definitely have term limits.

I'm not sure a pure age limit would be legal, but I'd be all for competency tests after a certain age.

I'm the first one to agree that experience matters, but if the current system doesn't tell you that we need some kind of guardrails, I don't know what to tell you.

It's not a matter of trusting the American voter; it's a matter of power, influence and preventing better options for the public. We had two terrible choices in the Presidential election in 2016, 2020 and potentially in 2024. 130 million voters will most likely vote for someone to prevent the other one from getting in to office. Hillary, Trump and Biden are all unfit to be President for one reason or another, but were the choices.

Competency needs to be considered in some manner as well as term limits. Age is a little dicier, but let's face it...everyone loses the ability to hit the fastball. You run the risk of officials not putting in the time, not being connected, not being able to process complex issues, etc. It happens in business, politics, and just about every area....do you think the Sanduski abuse would have happened if Paterno wasn't in charge?
