Looks like Monmouth is giving Notre Dame fits.

They are proving that the upset of UCLA was not a fluke.

Their coach seems like the right type of guy who players want to play for.
King Rice has a good pedigree and New York and New Jersey connections.
He can't be making a big salary.

I hope our AD keeps King Rice on the radar.

I just saw the score and out the game on. Great to watch a small local play this well.

king rice just thanked his ad for giving him time to build a program when his record was not good, well he came into an empty shelf with what calloway left or had; monmouth may not even win the maac but they will be damn close, iona and manhattan still rule until beaten

would be something if rice, cluess and masiello all get better jobs after season

Rice has done an nice job bringing in talent. He has a number of high level players and loads of depth. And they are fun to watch. And what's so bad about going to school a mile or so from the ocean and playing in a beautiful facility?

King Rice would not be a good fit. He's not the heavy lifter that SHU would need. If I had to pick another NJ coach to take over, I'd much rather have Jim Engles.

Rice's teams at Monmouth have improved every season. He's had a really nice trajectory down there and obviously this season is off the charts with the wins over UCLA and Notre Dame already.

But put me with lloyd on this one. Wasn't there also some connection with Rice and Bobby Gonzalez? Although Rice did most of his on-job-training under Kevin Stallings at Vanderbilt.

Rice and Gonzo are both Binghamton guys.,

If you've seen him coach and followed his career, you'd know Rice might be a good candidate at some other places, and could do okay, but he's not a good fit for SHU, and probably vice-versa as well.

Isn't the Washington Generals coach Red Klotz available. He beat the Trotters (once) just like Gonzo beat Florida.

It is sad to think that even at this late stage
of his career, Red Klotz may still be a better coach than what we have now.

Rice apparently is a great teacher - his bench is the most entertaining in a long time. After not scoring for a couple of minutes, when a Monmouth player hit a shot, 3 guys jumped up off the bench and were hysterical with what they did. Even the announcers pointed it out. Other than that sideshow, how they have a great year, but I'll pass on their coach.

His son is a 6'2 G playing at St. Anthony's under Bob Hurley Sr.
