More ACC/Big East merger talk

They will bolt after the 2030/31 season. The exit fee goes way down and the other three P4 media deals expire as does the BE’s media deal.

If it does happen, I hope it's not a merger but simply the Big East taking 2 to 4 of the best ACC teams remaing. We dont need a merger but they do.
Wait, wouldn't that still be "partnering with football schools"? In any event, even after the departure of big hitters from the ACC, the leftovers would probably make more money in a watered down ACC then they would in the Big East.
I don't think the math works, but, again this would be a good outcome for Connecticut because it results in a stronger, big east, and hopefully one with a better media deal, creates other football independents which helps us for scheduling.
For what it's worth Greenberg suggested decoupling basketball from football so that the ACC/Big East merger would be just for basketball and those ACC teams would be part of a separate football conference.

Basically, yea. Pitt, VT, Cuse, Miami & BC from the Big East. None of their athletic profiles are where they were when they were in the Big East.
BC was a perennial winner in the Big east mid 80s . Couple sweet 16 with John bagley and co

And yet they've never been to a final four. I think our record is 30-4 against them. Shrug.
Not getting to a Final Four is a far cry from sucking. And I really don't care for BC for what it did to the Big East.
I'm just saying. It's a program that did nothing in the big east and is doing nothing in the ACC. Again, I shrug.

BC went 4 for 30 against us. Meanwhile, we can't win a game in Newark even in what indisputably was a down year for you guys. It seems like a big difference between a team being an automatic win for an over decade versus going 500 against us every year in my opinion, but what do I know?
I wonder what our record vs Uconn was from 94 till JC retired.

Lots of us did it. Get the kids in the car, drive to the Meadowlands. The parking lot is jammed so you need to park in the back lot and walk over that bridge. Its windy as hell. Your youngest has to take a leak and isnt sure he can make it to the arena. You walk double speed. The whole freaking arena is ringed with buses with CT license plates. And then the bad shit happens, the game starts lol.
