More Death in the ATL

Sorry shu09 no politician or pundit/editorialized news theory gets to say they have influence on me.

Growing up i would watch a lot of local news on 2, 4, 7...i grew out of that

My belief system comes from educational and societal upbringing...work experiences with all types...i grew up in suburban/rural public school system, i chose to attend seton hall, felt religion and campus ministry types pushed too much on the campus in my era there...I am not registered to any party as a voter...let me ask this if any willing to diplomatically enage back...do you believe in "hate crime" legislation?

Seton Hall is a Catholic school. While you might not agree with their religious view, nobody forced you to attend there. They can push religious views and campus ministry as much as they want and who are you to tell them otherwise. I am sure you had many options to attend a school without religious affiliation.

You have proven that you have no interest in diplomatically engaging...
This from the poster who embeds giphys as teaser elements and preemptively strikes others as "snowflakes" for having dissenting opinions and posting tweets of present day societal ongoings in this country then doubles down on the "deflector" because he won't share solutions...when this crowd chooses to get woke I will think about it

Another rant....so predictable

Fine use the gun to disable him shoot him in the leg but of course they are trained when threatened to shoot at chest

Any cop or service member who would ever read your comment would laugh in your face. "shoot them in the leg" is an expression that has been around for many years and used by fools who have never held a loaded gun, let alone shot one, let alone pointed one or shot one at another human.

You clearly know nothing about firearms let alone how to use a firearm or defend yourself or eliminate a threat.

FWIW, they are trained to shoot center of mass. That is slightly lower than the chest. Just go to your local police firing range and look at the used targets.

To be fair though, Police officers are also trained to maintain possession of their weapons.

Is there any consequence to the officer who allowed the guy to take his taser? Not that it should be anything criminal, but maybe he needs more training before he can be in the field?

I think it’s a reasonable expectation that of you point a weapon at a police officer, they are going to shoot you so the outcome here is unfortunate, but justified.

The sad reality is that Police face these threats everyday and if they shoot the perp in the leg they will be dead on many occasions because the perp is not aiming for the leg ever. It is just not realistic in most (not all) situations. People have to stop breaking the law and resisting arrest but that is not realistic either.

We need more police reform, body cams and when possible have two police together at all times IMO to protect the police and citizens at large. I believe police need more training to identify citizens in distress or with a condition autism for instance) so they can grasp certain situations better - that is a problem with current police training. We do have to stop asking police to get involved in every situation and focus them on the real crimes taking place out there. And people have to learn on both sides you show respect and you usually get respect back. Defunding the police is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Training police better and a better definition of the situations they are asked to be involved in, is a good conversation to have.

There’s so many mixed messages right now. Personally, I think it should be mandatory to wear body cams. That alone is for the safety of both the police officer and the public. Everybody has a cell phone today but there needs to be one source of video that captures everything from start to finish. We also all agree there should be more training as well. So those are two very big expenses while the loudest message right now is to defund the police. Seems counterintuitive.
