Murphy want a wall

He can build a heckuva wall with all the dead bodies...funny how he misses that NJ is the worst in deaths/100K by far.

I think the wall is meant to keep people from leaving. With the $10 billion in loan the state will have to pay for, he needs every to stay.

We did what we needed to do to shut down the spread.

You think saying people who come in from hotspots should self quarantine and get tested is a problem?

I find it funny when NJ numbers were high in April and some states put travel bans on us, Murphy seemed to be against it, now he is singing a different tune.

It's a "should" quarantine, not a mandate, no?

I'm traveling to FL for vacation in Sep, if it is still requested, I'm NOT self-quarantining upon my return.

It’s an asinine policy. You can go to the party in Middletown, catch and spread the virus, but if I get an AirBnB on a beach in FL yet don’t leave, stay with my family and have food ordered in, I have to quarantine. Wolf is trying this nonsense in PA, so we are asking employees to complete a survey when they return. If they practiced good social distancing and were responsible, no quarantine necessary.

If it were a mandate, it would be asinine.

It’s basically asking people to understand that if they are coming from a place where the virus is spreading rapidly, they should take stops to sure they aren’t infected and spreading it here.

Not sure why this is controversial honestly. MDS maybe.

It’s assinine because just because you traveled to another state it doesn’t mean you were any more exposed. It wreaks havoc with businesses and frustrates employees.

It’s not mandatory.

It’s more of an awareness campaign, and not really a big deal at all and surely not “wreaking havoc” on anything.
Than why not just say that....if you travel to a hotspot state, "please use common sense and take extra measures to social distance. We would also suggest a two week quarantine when you return, just to be safe".

The reality is that getting on a flight to anywhere is far more dangerous (spread) than any particular destination. But you don't make political points with statements like that....

That's basically what they said. You're just nitpicking over the words they used. Your words don't result in any difference at all in application. Like I said, it's an awareness campaign and the words they chose are because they think they will be more effective.

Also, regarding air travel. They refer to CDC guidelines there.

Words matter. The way it's phrased creates a lot of consternation (and legal exposure) for businesses and employees.

And there may be CDC guidelines, but putting 200 people in a confined space, even with masks is much more dangerous than most activities you can do right now.

No it doesn't. It literally says it is voluntary.
If a business chooses to follow it or not, that is their choice.

Agree. Significant risk on an airplane. Anyone on a plane should be aware of the risk of getting infected and should take steps afterwards to lower the possibility of spreading it to others.

When you are shoulder-to-shoulder for several hours that is virtually impossible.

Then why itemize 34 specific states? Why not, "if you go anywhere, don't be a knucklehead"?

Right. Which is why I said they should take steps afterwards to lower the possibility that they would spread it to others if they become infected on the flight.

That would include, wearing a mask in public places after the flight, quarantining if possible and getting tested.

Because we set a threshold for where the virus is spreading.
Threshold may be arbitrary, but I believe this is more about public awareness.
Not really a big deal.

Wearing a mask is obvious. My point was getting on a plane anywhere is much more dangerous than say traveling to Florida, but we don't here Governors talking about that because it's not political.

Is Murphy telling people to not leave the state now since the transmission value is over 1?

Because they don't want to fight with the airline industry.

So health of the public is secondary to fighting airlines....so it is about politics which once again was my point.

Public health messaging without a legal battle from an industry.
Call that whatever you want I guess.

It's not mandatory and certainly not wreaking havoc on anything.
Just trying to make people aware of the risks.

Why would they care about a legal battle from one industry? Certainly others are being penalized a lot more for much less risk to employees/customers.

And we don't know the impact of infection spread from those that have flown....so it could very well be wreaking havoc.
