1. Where's Brian Custer when you need him?

2. No energy, no hard work, settling for long jump shots to begin the game is a recipe for disaster. The Hall got punched in the mouth early and often and didn't seem to care.

3. Spoke to Mamu...he's getting his wind back but is still getting fatigued after 3-4 minute bursts. Played 17 minutes, about 4 more than was his target number.

4. When Mamu is ready to return to the starting lineup Cale should be the player replaced. No ands, ifs or buts! Great kid but he has not improved offensively one iota this season and when you have your 5's only capable of scoring on dunks you cannot afford to have a wing scoring 1-2 baskets a game.

5. No team should ever and I mean ever get beaten on the boards that badly at this level. Not sure how the players can even look themselves in a mirror tonight. Losing to a team who outplays you is one thing, but to not even show up on your home court against a 2-6 Xavier team is an embarrassment.

6. We have been seeing the very good Ro as of the late. Today we saw the very worst of what he has to offer. He was a -16 on the court and that was no coincidence. Gotta toughen up big guy your man went for 19/18. Shooting 9-10 in the game.

7. Let's see. Xavier had 18 turnovers to the Pirates 6. Clearly the Hall kicked ass today. Right?????

8. Got to stop settling for long jump shots

Part 1. After Cale hit a mid range jumper to open up the scoring the Pirates came down and settled for 4 long jumpers in a row. All the while watching Xavier move the ball on offense to the open man.

The result? 18 straight points allowed.

Part 2. Someone better tell Myles Powell that taking 25 foot jump shots 6-7 seconds into the shot clock will result in not only misses but run-outs the other way. Time to stop reading the press clippings and concentrate on playing winning BB.

9. The two biggest plays in the game were the buzzer beating back to back (prayers) 3's Xavier hit in the middle of the second half when the Pirates were getting back into the game. This from one of the worst 3 point shooting teams in the conference. Sometimes it's just not meant to be.

10. How bad was Seton Hall today? They had the lead for 31 seconds to start the game and then were outscored 30-4.

11. Angel Delgado couldn't jump over a nickel. But he almost never lost an opening tip. Ro Gill has a wing span a foot taller and jumps higher, yet hardly ever wins an opening tip. Sometimes it's all about desire. Want the ball.

Same thing on the boards.

12. The good news. While Willard sang a far different tune in the post game regarding Q's injury status than he did on the radio with Cohen, the two players, Mamu and Rhoden both said after seeing him in the locker room they hope he's able to play next game.

13, The fans took some heat coming into this game for lack of emotion. Not today. They did their part but could never make the difference necessary. This was on the players and staff. The Hall was not ready to play today, plain and simple.

14 Q had a difficult first half but redeemed himself in the second stanza. Probably made one bad play in the final 20 minutes but it was a killer. All the momentum was with the Hall and then after a missed shot he made a bad long pass that was intercepted and resulted in a layup and foul by Rhoden coming back.

That said if anyone can be forgiven for a bad play it's McKnight. He never takes a play off. Something his teammates should emulate.

15. Pirates defense on the floor? Terrible.

From the arc? Ditto.

From the foul line? Ah, there we were outstanding.

16. Why did the Hall lose? Well here's the plus/minus from three starters
Powell -17
Gill -16
Cale -14

Nuff said.

17. The players were a decent 12-18 from the foul line but 5 of those misses were in a row, including the front end of a one and one late. Not coming back from any deficit in that situation.

18. Tyrique Jones, 18 rebounds. SHU 17 defensive rebounds. You do the math.

19. Last time the Pirates got punched in the face like this at least they had a plausible excuse with Powell and Mamu being hurt. No such excuse today. Let's see if they can respond again like they did previously. For that to happen pray for good news on Q.

20. RIP 10 game winning streak.
