Swimming, xc and both track seasons no?
Dont know about swimming. But the XC and track MOC were both great. Saw a bunch of them when my son was in HS. So many great runners in NJ and the best HS team of any sport, CBA XC. Imagine St Pats hoops deciding to send their first team to a big tourney out of state the day of the TOC finals and their second team wins it. That is what CBA has done a couple of times in XC. Best HS program in the nation, in any sport. And I am no CBA fan. Red Bank beat them in the Shore Conference championship meet once and the place went crazy, it was like Dematha beating Power Memorial...

And do those matter? I have no idea, but my old high school, Union Catholic in Scotch Plains, seems to constantly be posting about national meets rather than state meets.
They always matter, because in that sport, you are racing against not just the opposition, but records. The elite track people love chasing history, which is kind of cool.

He’s going to Franklin & Marshall.
Do you want to battle them for recruits.

He’s a great story, but no.
Maybe better than what we brought in last year so yes I would definitely go after any kids that maybe don't care about NIL and have ability even if they aren't recruited by big name schools. Lots of kids fly under the radar and are under recruited because they don't go to camps and have press clippings. If you really think we are going to get high school kids that are 4 and 5 star recruits you are dreaming. SHA is going after 4 and 5 star kids who are in college for one reason or another looking for a new landing place and perhaps more money. Not sure that will change things for us next year.

You think the Montgomery kid didn’t go camps or have press clippings? First of all, every kid goes to camps, especially the 6-9 ones. Secondly, he was one of the most publicized kids in the state because of his story.

D3 players are tough and can definitely play, but there is also a definite pecking order between that level and high D1.

There's also something else to consider in today's game. How do you think Manny Okorofor would have done this past year playing high school ball against a bunch of 16-17 year olds. It's great that Hines has interest in our program but if we can't keep him for 4 years will it really matter?

After watching this past season, I’d say yes.

Also remember that players are going to get a little bit younger going forward with the Covid year disappearing.

Kid from Georgetown would have helped us a lot this year. There are exceptions.

Our whole problem is that we can't compete $$$$ for NIL guys[even though that may change somewhat this yr.
So, this might actually be our opportunity to hit the HS scene for recruits. While the big bully boys are fighting each other financially for NIL recruits, maybe, just maybe, we can slip inside for the unheralded HS prospects!
I just saw news about Najee Hines in the Bergen Record when they beat Ridgewood High in the Group 4 semis-it intrigued me-and here we are! Let's hope this happens!
And, don't forget, Shaheen has an involvement with a number of Blair Academy preps; one of their players is supposed to be favoring SHall!
One more future item-Bergen Catholic has a Jr player of significance -his name is Julius Avent-sound familiar???

Seton Hall CAN compete if it wants to.

Well Lloyde, I would certainly hope that Seton Hall "wants to"-but, if they don't, I see an opening where they can outmanuever the bullies by locking in the underrecruited HS Srs[and they exist every yr], get them committed early, and then beat them on thecourt once the season starts

Pls do not refer to players on our roster as sucking.

Not sure why I have to post that!
One of my sons played ball thru HS. It was amazing what you heard adults call HS kids. I had no break rule in my head that I lived by. Would I make that comment if I was sitting next to his Dad. "Man, not a good pass!" That was OK. "Only a clown would throw that pass." Nope. (I may have thought it!)

I coached and reffed for many years. What some parents say to players , coaches and refs was absurd. Most however were good, decent people
