Creighton won big east didn't get great respect

Xavier and uconn didn't get at large chances

Warm weather sites normally get the sites and the conferences in warm weather normally get the most bids. Outdoor sports in Ny/NJ/PA and NE usually get 1 bid - conference champ. Been like that forever.

Another non-story, same as its ever been.
Not same as its ever been.

Prior to the last decade, you would often have 3 and sometimes 4 west coast schools going to Omaha. A mid major CS Fullerton was as good as anyone. Oregon State did win back to back National Championships (they are still very good). USC was a dominant team if we go back farther.

The SEC has a lot more power these days. They get schools like Kentucky in that don't deserve it. Plus, when you host, they often get a weak 4 seed and rest their best pitchers while the 2 and 3 seeds in their region use their best pitchers. Thus, the host school gets to use their number 1 pitcher vs the number 2 pitcher of the winner of the 2 vs 3 game. Also, the SEC uses the transfer portal like hoops.

Oregon State and USC were P4 schools. CS Fullerton replaced by Coastal Carolina.

Same as always.

Throw in Northeastern, most wins in all of college baseball. Sport is the same it's always been. Typical Twitter Guy looking to create a victim out of nothing.

Preseason #1 tamu didn't make field first time since 1991...Virginia was preseason #2 btw
That's really an apples to oranges comparison.

TAMU finished with a 50 RPI. Everyone who got in, had a lower RPI than that.

Virginia had a 64 RPI.

Connecticut finished with a 40 RPI. Three teams with a higher RPI than them got in.

But really nothing new, or anything to do with conference consolidation. Unfortunately, always a bias toward northeast baseball. And the BE is just not a top baseball conference, and it probably hurt Uconn. Looking just at RPI, seems Uconn was right there, but I just do not follow NCAA baseball that much anymore.

College Baseball is dead in the northeast and the field has been tilted against schools outside the sun belt and west coast for decades. SEC buys up all the best talent just like they do in every other sport. Hard to swallow pill, but the Big East is a single bid Mid Major league in every other sport aside from M/W Basketball and M Soccer. Seasonal and regional bias and a lowly regarded conference in the sport means a bubble team Big 12 or Big 10 school will always be picked over a bubble team Big East team if the metrics are close. Much the same way a Big 10/12 basketball team on the bubble will be picked over a CAA team on the bubble with similar metrics 95% of the time. It probably shouldn't be like that but it is, and it's nothing new. Does the current "P4 vs everybody else" war pour some gas on the fire and give the Haves another opportunity to flex on the Have Nots? Also yes.

Hundred percent agree that there's always been a biased against Northeastern teams. Still, it seems to me that things are getting worse. Snubs like this become self perpetuating, right? You snub a couple of Big East teams this year, and then next year you say well the big east is a one bid league. It is only because you let lesser deserving teams get in ahead of more deserving Big East teams. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

UConn's a regular participant in postseason baseball. We will be fine, but I do see it as part of a larger pattern and happening more and more across the board in all sports.

(As aside, we do need to improve the quality of the baseball teams at the bottom end of the conference. We would sweep a series season and have our RPI drop. There needs to be minimal commitment to the sports schools participate in.)
