I think this team is a prime example that you can’t build 80% of your roster overnight via the Portal and expect to have a cohesive team. Shaheen needs to bring in enough HS players (even if they are below the radar) and develop them and then use the Portal to fill the gaps or put good money in high impact players as opposed to spreading your funds too thin on a bunch of suspect players.

Also, no reason if you’re getting someone out of the portal with 2+ years of experience that you don’t know what their 2Pt and 3Pt FG% is to know that you have to bring in enough guys who can out the ball in the basket for you. This team is woefully inefficient on offense. It’s just a poor roster build. That’s on Shaheen. He’s asking too much of himself to think he can being in a collection of misfits and figure it out.

Really disappointed in the program right now. We’ve digging a hole that could get us into depths we have not seen in a long time.

Unless it’s a top 50 player freshman don’t have impact at this level

Sha has shown that he's not good at putting a team together quickly. All 3 years he's had disappointing offseasons with lots of players not present or injured. He's had poor OOC showings all 3 years,

He really needs as much time and roster continuity as possible to build something. That's going to be difficult at SH with today's rules.

Bringing in freshmen should be part of his strategy especially with 5th year covid eligibility ending. But unless you can get great talents, I think 2 freshmen recruits a year is enough. The 4 or 5 man class may be a thing of the past.

Sha has said publicly and privately that he really likes this Team -- I just can not figure out what he likes?

is he supposed to say he doesn't like his team??

his recruiting strategy was pretty clear. it was a risk, and it failed. this is a throwaway year because of it.

but you should get used to throw away years from now on. the doomsday is here. i don't mind the initial strategy of trying to cash in on talent any way possible. it didn't work out so try something else next year. we will probably be relevant once every 5 years. for that one year only.

I do not think Sha can be honest with himself-- he needs help evaluating and recruiting

A question I've had about Sha from the moment he was hired. Who are his mentors that he can turn to when things are not going well. Who has the guts to give him honest criticism and who will he listen to when they tell him he needs to change something? Who's going to tell him the uncomfortable truth? Still don't know the answer.

In Jerry's article he said Grant regularly talks to and meets with Willard and Greg Herenda.

he needs help, in the form of money. it doesn't exist.
Huh? Our money situation is not the problem when it comes to the teams we’ve played so far. It’s using that money on people who can make shots. We’re 12 deep when we only need to be 7 deep. Thats a lot of wasted money that could’ve gotten us a guy who can shoot the ball into the round cylinder. We should be 7-2 at least right now with confidence going into OK St and Rutgers. The fact confidence is so low right is the worst part. And confidence is low because it seems every game the other team plays with more heart. That’s more than a money problem.
