Bernard Hebda will take over for Meyers. Harvard undergrad degree. Seems to be an enlightened guy.

I hope this is good for us.

Hopefully the Bishops take a hands off approach to SHU. Meyers is not a favorite of mine (I cannot stand the guy for many reasons) nor a favorite of many people. I hope this is a strong message from our new Pope that folks need to protect children and Meyers ultra conservative ways are not where the religion wants to go. For me Myers can't leave fast enough. I hope for the good of the Archdiocese he does not wait the full 3 years to retire. And I wish our new Bishop luck in his new role and hope he brings about needed changes and understanding.

Well put, but it doesn't matter who the archbishop is, he won't have a hands-off approach to Seton Hall. As long as we're a diocesan school, the archbishop will be the head of the board of regents and board of trustees and will have a very active role in the university.

No problem with his interaction with Seton Hall. My big hope is he does not continue the practice of protecting pedophile priests and then making excuses for why. Maybe this is the start of pushing Myers out rather than waiting for him to retire.
