Today I had a chat with Lance Miller, Nova '89-'93, Nova Hall of Fame. He is all for the NIL and with good reason. His daughter, Diamond, is a senior on the Maryland women's basketball team. As a soph she was 1st team all big 10 & 2nd team last season due to missing 12 games with a knee injury. She has already banked $40K this year and is expecting more to come. Remember, this is a state school and it's women's basketball!!!
How can a school like Seton Hall expect to compete with numbers like that. One can only imagine what UConn, Notre Dame, So Carolina and the like are pumping to their women's teams. The numbers going to the men's programs must rival this idiot state's budget.
Unless something major happens soon, things are not looking bright for a lot of schools, the Hall included.

Have and have nots with this paying for players. Ultimately there are only so many roster spots, so see how it shakes out.

But bugger schools that usually flounder could/should rise up as long as this free-for-all is in place. The current environment was not the intention of the concept, but the incompetency to have policies and standards leaves us here.

As I mentioned earlier, what could Bezos do for his alma mater? What could Phil Knight do?

This makes me wonder, can Stanford rise to the top in everything? Can non traditional sports schools like BU with alums like Howard Stern pass more traditional sports schools? The whole landscape could change quickly.
