NJIT up early on Rutgers

It’s what happens when you have to get into conference schedule so early. They played hard against MSU and still have to play an entire schedule with a week removed.

I expect a tough game at the RAC since that game will be Rutgers equivalent of a National Championship game. But anything less than a W would be unacceptable.
Rutgers can come out and play as hard as they want, but the talent gap is big enough that it would be embarrassing for Seton Hall to lose. I am pretty confident for the Pirates though. I give them a 85-90% chance to win the game. I don't care how much this game is a "super bowl" for Rutgers. The Seton Hall seniors know how big the game is and they would hate to go out in their last year by losing, they simply won't allow it to happen.

Carino said around 250 tix left for SHU @ RU.

$20 in the upper level.

He also took a pot shot at SHU attendance in a tweet.

For RU it's their game of the year and has been for a couple of decades. That's what happens when your post season chances are usually nil and bragging rights are all their fans can hope for. And they still claim its not a rivalry.

NJIT is terrible, it’s not the same program as it was a few years ago under Engles.

Very young team with a new staff in rebuilding mode. They were projected to be by far the worst team in the state this season. To date that's not the case.

What's his problem lately!? We outdraw every team in the state and our student section has been fantastic. He seemingly counts empty seats as fans at the Rutgers games and they don't draw flies but always has nasty comments about our attendance! WTF is he trying to accomplish!?

We do a poor job of supporting this team. He is right.

He's trying to help by continuing to post (low) attendance figures because he wants the fans to support the team.

Most of the people who read his tweets are, more than likely, people who already attend the games.

Well, that could backfire as recruits who read it could think we have no support for our team. Meanwhile he blows smoke up the butts of the Rutgers fans (all three of them). I just don't get him trying to make us look worse than we are and trying to make them look better than they are. Maybe he should talk about the atmosphere at the games instead of counting attendance two minutes after he walks into the arena two hours early! The rest of the media in the state ignores us (Ledger) and he tries to make us look bad. Obviously these guys never took a marketing class!

Since today is not technically a home game I can't wait until he blames all of the Seton Hall fans if there is a poor turnout!

You're over reacting. I know Jerry personally and he can't say it but his heart is at SHU.

His job forces him to cover Seton Hall and Rutgers so of course he is going to be biased in reporting on both schools.

But with that said Jerry is also a professional and when there are issues at either school he's front and center bringing them out to the public.

You remain very angry,Homeless Cub. Your team is good. Enjoy it and stop
obsessing about the media and a team that's not in your conference.

A few points for you...
1. Who is Homeless Cub? Never saw anyone with that name posting here.
2. Not obsessed at all about anyone other than my own team!
3. Seems you are the obsessed one as you are on the Seton Hall site. I don't visit sites other than this one.
4. Shouldn't you be back on the Nitwit Nation site? Don't they miss you?

I don't agree with all @SHUisNJsTeam anti-rutgers rhetoric, and think he goes overboard with it. But I do agree with this statement.

I just don't get him trying to make us look worse than we are and trying to make them look better than they are.

Having said that, no one covers us better than JC. I appreciate all the work he does.

Biggest issue to me is price. Parking, concessions, booze, and tickets are not cheap if a casual Seton Hall fan or family wants to go. Have to pay professional prices for a college event. It’s a shame because team is very good and deserves lower bowl to be sold out. Should sell a lot more $10 tickets on game day too. No reason why it should only be a few hundred when there are thousands of empty seats.

I paid $30, up from $20. IMO that's a rip off. Hope it was for only that game.

I paid zero to park because I took a train, and walking through the dry and warm Gateway complex, I noticed a parking lot below charging $15 for parking. Cheaper prices are out there, just have to find them.

As the great philosopher Sy Sims said, "An educated consumer is the best costumer.”

There are lots of ways to get fans to come to games. Snarky Tweets by a beat writer with 4,000 followers is about #692 on the list, right between a Gonzo bobblehead giveaway and free tickets to the next Seton hall football game.

He doesn't see them as snarky.

Remember, just a month or two ago he spoke to Pat Lyons and then wrote an article about supporting the team with quotes from Pat.

Those two have a very good relationship so I see this as nothing more than trying to get fans, as he has said ad naseam since the preseason, to come out and cheer for the players.

I have talked to Jerry a ton and he loves this group of players and believes they deserve more support than they are getting. Something of which I whole heartily agree with.

And he really thinks the best way to do that is to trash our attendance, which blows away anyone else in the state, while counting empty seats as actual fans of a school that can't draw flies? Maybe he needs to find a different approach or quit trying and stick to actual game stories.

Agree...sort of. They gave #3 MSU a game very recently, and the RAC will be juiced for a ranked SHU team.

RU scares me. They are quicker than we are, have some decent size up front and player really aggressive.

I think Willard did a great job adjusting our offense against a press, but RU will really test us there.

Did not watch the game but heard izzo benched 2 of his starters for a good portion of the game to send a message.

regardless, this shows that rutgers is a legitimate threat. still think we win. our guys really dont want to lose and they had a scare last year.
