No bail for Canisius men's basketball recruit Sarion McGee, who is facing 15 gun charges

Completely manipulated statistics. There was virtually no drop that can be attributed to the ban. Want to look at the increase and something that correlates.. look at the increased use of social media and the increase in mass shootings. Instant fame. If I’m not mistaken one of the shootings of a Mosque was live streamed. Many of these sickos had disturbing posts prior to their massacre. Instead of big tech writing algorithms to censor conservatives, how about an algorithm to flag these posts to law enforcement.
Yup blame it all on something else. Weren’t you the one saying that it was all bs about violence and video games and movies about increasing shootings. Now u want to blame social media. lol. Laughable

come on...that is not doing anything. I've played, my kids have played these first person shooter games since he's 10 and we aren't shooting anyone. It's a game. IF that is making them shoot people, it's not the game...it a mental issue which needs to be addressed.
Well if they want to come for my guns, they have to do everything else in their power first.

Completely different. I’m saying Social media gives these sick SOB’s an audience for their sick desires. You have people taking pictures and posting them literally seconds after it’s happening. Any media that helps them gain fame for their acts is to blame. Yet you want to blame an inanimate object, a gun, for the killings.

So your argument that it’s just a coincidence that mass shooting decreased during the federal ban. After the federal ban, it’s Facebook to blame for the increase in mass shootings. Ok gotcha.

Taking population trends into account, a model was created based on the data suggests that had the federal assault weapons ban been in place throughout the whole period of a study – that is, from 1981 through 2017 – it may have prevented 314 of the 448 mass shooting deaths that occurred during the years in which there was no ban.

Based on that data I’ll take the additional deaths to protect my rights.

WOW! So even with a 70% reduction in mass shooting deaths that would be due to a federal ban on. assault weapons, you could care less. Well, at least you are consistent.

92,000 drug overdoses death is 2020 alone.

314 gun deaths hypothetically saved over the course of 36 years.

I hope congress is inclined to put their energy into the former.

After that they can tackle, heart disease, cancer, vehicular accidents, crime,

314 in 36 years vs 1 year:
  • Heart disease: 696,962
  • Cancer: 602,350
  • COVID-19: 350,831
  • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 200,955
  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 160,264
  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 152,657
  • Alzheimer’s disease: 134,242
  • Diabetes: 102,188
  • Influenza and pneumonia: 53,544
  • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 52,547

It says “may”. If you look at the data prior you’d see the numbers were already in decline before the ban. Plus there is no way of knowing if they would have used another weapon to commit the shootings. There is no way to know if it did anything.

An absolutely irrelevant post to this discussion.

The relevance is preventing avoidable death and how do you allocate resources against that.

The general consensuses about the gun ban is that it did not do much. You bring a hypothetical 314 lives saved over a 36 year period. I am simply pointing out that while tragic, 314 deaths is a blip compared to other deaths that could be prevented over that same period.

I wonder if the Supreme Court ruling striking down the NY carry law deeming it unconstitutional benefits this kid.
