No Reason to Overpay for Isaiah

I like the effort this team continues to put forward. I’d like to see our starters back obviously sans Wusu. Bring back Middleton. Would like to think we could do better than Okorafor. Felton has a major confidence issue IMO, don’t know if he is projecting to be a meaningful Big East contributor.

There is a cap on what you pay for Coleman. I don’t think he is a #1 guy but a great 3rd option if we had a couple of other legit scorers on the team.

This season entering today 36% from field 30% from 3 in league play
Because he takes a lot of shots due to the fact that only he (and Wusu) have the balls to take shots. Plus he is the only guy who can make shots. Today he had 15 pts, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals against the best D in the BE. A couple of the pull up jumpers he made today were really tough makes against SJ’s defense. Sometime we posters only focus on the negatives without any context.
PS: yes I know I’m repeating myself from another thread!

I only want these guys back (in order):

Coleman
Erheriene
Aligbe
Dual
Felton
I could live with letting everybody walk out the door (get pushed) but it's important for continuity purposes to retain a core. I could deal with Middleton and Yalden returning as well because I think they can improve.

SPK's list doesn't have to be the starting five, nor should it be. Based on this, we need a starting backcourt and a starting power forward along with Coleman and Godswill.

Especially because it takes A LONG time for teams to gel with Sha. Even a team with some continuity like lsat year took the entire non-con season.

Telling stats. Continuously jacks up bad shots, feet aren’t sit and the results are embarrassing for a guy who’s supposed to be out top player. Number of times yesterday he drove with 2-3 guys on him and still forced it up. My math is bad, but somebody is open in that scenario. And we actually moved the ball as well as we had all year yesterday scoring inside with some nice feeds.

You pay for guards in college BB. If u dont pay isaiah u just got worse overnight. Pay for a 1,2,3 move godswill to the 4 and coach him up. Scotty is a backup 3 pt shooter. Felton still a young backup. Both of those 2 shouldnt get any significant $ yet. Dual must go. I dont wang him even aa a backup
You don't wang him?

I posted elsewhere on this topic.

Loyalties are two-way street. It is just not a matter of money and any one student that has money as his/her primary factor, is not the student athlete for Sha or the school. I agree that money is a factor and understand the need for a competitive NIL (having more knowledge about the creation of the NIL industry than I am going to make publicly known). But as long as we're in the ballpark there should be other factors that a student will or should consider.

Reflect on what happened with Richmond. Money was a factor, no doubt, as was the balance of the roster. Even if Davis and Dylon stayed, the roster was an unknown. He was going to be the lead player on any team he chose.

Coleman, on the other hand, is not at the level of either Richmond or Davis. Seriously think of the teams that are top five in the conference. Would he be a starter on any of those teams or simply a rotational player. He's obviously in need of building muscle strength and does not have the fire or killer instinct necessary to be the alpha on any team at this level. While I agree with the above posters that we should make a bona fide run at him, I wouldn't, however. back up the Brinks truck to keep him.
I know I'm late on this. Haven't read through on all these comments yet but stopped here. And yes as you mentioned for there will be other factors for players besides solely NIL. But as Rick Pintino mention earlier that if SHU was able to be even competitive with St. John's offer Richmond would have likely been back. Now this isn't a comment on Richmond but it is a comment on retaining skilled power conference players is much cheaper than buying them off other teams either by outbidding their old school or other schools wanting the same player.

SHU should make Coleman a priority as he would be willing to be at SHU next year cheaper than any other player of his caliber would be expected to be.
