Not Cool-ey

Ed went Roger Maris on the student section. Hoping some of you know the reference. As bad a look as his scalp.

Wow. I mean, it's true. But that certainly wouldn't be the attitude I would want my head coach displaying after a 1-10 start to the BE season. He could've just said "We'll be winning more next year" ... or said nothing at all. I wonder what the Georgetown fans think about hiring him at this point.

EDIT: I mean, it's almost like something I would expect a WWE heel to say. Not the head coach of a prestigious university. But maybe that's where were at as a society.

But that’s not how he operates….which you’d never know by the way the media fawns over him.

Providence also made a big marketing mistake by making him the face of the school. I know why they did it - local guy, showcases diversity at a historically white school - but they really should have known better. No coach at any school should be spotlighted that way, anyway.

Right, I believe it was last season before our game up there they spotlighted him and did a segment where he was walking around town everybody, loves the guy. He is the face of Providence then…

The swearing wasn’t necessary. Hold up his wallet. That is a subtle message

Way more than that …. PC even did their in-game TV commercials with Cooley as a focus. You never see that, and for good reason.

I heard a suggestion that he be fined…and that the funds go to our NIL collective.

That will end that behavior…

I'm sure GT alums aren't impressed if any of them still follow the BB team.

My seats are 1st row behind the visiting families 2rows. Cooley was f bombing all night-almost as if in casual conversations at times. That’s just who he is.

Georgetown families were gracious in praising Shaheen as the real deal.

Gotta say St. John’s families have easily been the worst visitors so far this year. Loud and obnoxious early in our game, but became downright aholes during the blowout. NY tude….

I was so wrong with Cooley. Up until his indiscretions at Providence I noted that there wasn't a coach in the conference who I would have played for if I had the talent more than he.

His post game comments at the Rock, win or lose were top notch. He never shied away from the tough questions and always looked you in the eye when answering you regardless of your query.

But since the SHU game last season when he clearly lost interest and then with his handling of his duties at Georgetown it looks like this is who he always was.

Now if I had to choose a Big East coach there is no one who I would rather play for than our own Shaheen Holloway. He encompasses everything I would want as a player.

Tough as nail, but really a compassionate coach who loves his players if they show they deserve the love.

The kids comment to Cooley was very funny and accurate! I like the back and forth frankly between Cooley and the students. He's taking a lot of heat and rightfully so but I have a feeling he has some better years at GTown. Not rooting for him but realistically they have to get better from where they are now.

If he doesn’t improve on this year, that will make two hot seats in DC….

I think Cooley is battling demons. I doubt any of us can imagine how hard they can be. think he will succeed there. And I root for him. Public humiliation is among the hardest and most destructive of the gauntlets you can run in your life. I guess the $7 million a year helps.

Just got off the phone with someone who knows him well and that is exactly what he told me.

Holloway would be up there for me too as well as these in no particular order:

Hurley
English
McDermott

The media fawning over him. I’ll say. I would be surprised if the TV announcers last night said even five things about Sha. And he is in 3rd place in the BE and the other guy is 1-11. Geez, enough ready.

If Hurley even reaches the Final 4 again this year; guy will really be on his way to building something pretty special again at UConn, Who would have thunk that 10+ years ago? Always like to things go well for SHU guys so all the best to him except when he‘s playing us.

Georgetown’s Ed Cooley claps back at student heckler

By Matt Ehalt

Money makes losing easier for Ed Cooley.

The Georgetown basketball coach laughed off a fan mocking his team’s lousy performance and his large salary Wednesday night during a road loss to Seton Hall by referencing his bank account.

The Pirates fan yelled at Cooley, “that’s $7 million per win,” according to The Asbury Park Press.

Cooley, with a smile, fired back.

“You know what, I’m rich as a motherf–ker,” Cooley responded. “I’m rich as s–t.”

The $7 million remark is in reference to Cooley’s new salary as the Hoyas head coach, although Front Office Sports reports it’s closer to $6 million.

The “per win” line referred to Georgetown’s 1-10 mark in the Big East, ahead of only hapless DePaul.

Cooley said after the 76-70 setback, Georgetown’s seventh straight loss, that the exchange didn’t faze him.

“Nothing gets under my skin, man,” Cooley said, per the Asbury Park Press. “Think about this: I coach in the Big East at Georgetown University. What can get under my skin?”

He added: “Kids are going to be kids. I have a problem when adults don’t act like adults. When they’re students, say whatever you want. I always try to have a good interaction with the kids. You know what, they deserve a comment every now and then. Why not have some fun with them? The game was already over and you know what? They all got a pretty good chuckle out of it.”

Cooley and the Hoyas will continue to catch flak until the program returns to relevancy.

Georgetown, once a flag bearer in the Big East, has been irrelevant for years but is hoping Cooley can help turn around their fortunes like he did with Providence and Fairfield.

The Hoyas lured Cooley with a big salary, which ruffled some feathers in the Big East, and his team is taking its bumps this year with an 8-14 record.

Cooley continues to insist there are better days ahead while the losses add up, with another daunting game coming Saturday when No. 1 UConn heads to Washington D.C.

You have to love the Post writing a story based completely on a story published in another newspaper.

At least the intern they assigned to write the piece gave the APP some credit.

Matta and McDermott for me. Maybe English, but don't know enough about him yet. Nobody else.
