Not sure how much better IW can play......

He has really stepped up his play. I don't know what happened to him but the light went off in his head and he has been playing incredible basketball. He is playing like a McD's AA for sure now. I hope this team could stay intact for next year because they have the chance to be scary good if all stay until their junior year.

The only thing left to master are those plays were you see a bad decision coming and he follows through with it anyway... Like that turnaround shot in front of the bench or those two long outlets he threw down court into traffic.

Even those type of plays occur less frequently than they used to... Not necessarily stuff that can kill you at this level, but stuff that does have to be refined for the NBA.

3-3 from deep in the 1st half.

Some sick passes that even made some Georgetown fans (although there weren't many of them there tonight) ooh and aah.

I really appreciate Whitehead for how he handles himself on and off the court. He always seems to be promoting the SHU brand vice his own. I think that comes with a high degree of self confidence; he doesn't feel the need to draw attention to himself.

I am glad that he is a leader on this team.

Go Pirates.

im thinking it but im waiting till the season is over to say anything. but the buck doesnt stop here. no sleep for the dude, gotta stay on the recruiting game and piggyback of this team that will be easily one of the more enticing teams to play for in the next two years.

I'm happy to say that I have said here several times that he would respond and adjust to the pg role, even after his less stellar performances. Just too much natural skill and a court sense not to. I'm glad for him. I saw parts of the first five minutes, and he had two nice assists and hit that three on a semi-fastbreak. Sounds like another great game for him and the Pirates. Can't wait to see him play in the tourney, hopefully this year.

I said it before and I'll say it again. If he keeps playing like this, he's gone, and he's especially gone if he has a good showing in the NCAA tournament.

Has made huge strides from December to now.

We need to get Carrington on track asap.

And as nj4life said recently, in the long term, that will be good for shu. Others will see that a McD AA came here, developed new skills needed for the nba, and went first round.

Not saying it as a negative (other than casting doubts on next year), just saying to enjoy it while he's here because his number of games left in a SHU uniform may be in the single digits.

Exactly. SHU wins either way. Enjoy every moment of his play now and take some pride downstream when he makes it to the show.

Isaiah looks so relaxed when he shoots now and it just swishes through the net. He also has an uncanny ability to step up when the team needs it the most. At the end of the half they made a nice run and we looked sloppy. Then with like a little over a minute left he takes over and scores, dishes and scores again sending us into halftime with an 8 point lead. They cut the lead and had the momentum and he just took over. He has done that a bunch of times this year too even when he was not shooting well he would hit the shot when we really needed it. He is playing some incredible basketball and should have at least two or three more assists per game if some of our young guys could convert a little more.

Sit back and enjoy Isaiah Whitehead. He is overtaking Derrick Gordon's leadership role in front of our eyes too. Great job Isaiah!!!

I think we need to start the chant "1 more Year" for the last two home games. The kid has been terrific. I would love to have him for another year, but he needs to do what is best for him.
Good idea Russ. Show this kid how much we appreciate his play and his presence.

The more familiar he has gotten with the position, the more his confidence has grown. You can see that just from reading the box scores. Much different player than Pearl Washington, but something inside me thought of Pearl after reading about him and then watching him his freshman year. The answer in my mind now is the swagger and confidence they both shared, all done in the team concept--with the occasional Brooklyn freelancing every now and then. Five wins in the last six games. Somebody is doing something right.

Mike, IW is pretty impressive in all facets of his game, but his passing is absolutely spectacular, and every time I see him pull another gem out of his ****, I think each pass alone is worth the the price of admission. Frank

As KW once said in a post game interview. IW is the best player that nobody has heard of.

He can get a lot better. Just hope it's done in South Orange. Huge upside is what the NBA sees.

I am uninformed about this, but does anyone have any idea on the economic difference between a lottery pick and, say, a low first rounder?

The general "rule" of advice, as I understand it, is if one is assured he'll be drafted in the first round then he should apply for the NBA draft.

That said, I have to believe that lottery picks make a multiple of lower first rounders --- at least on their initial or "rookie" contract.

Does anyone know?

At first I liked this, but then I feared IW might take it more as a guilt-plea than as praise. Now not sure. How about a counterpoint cheer: one side yells "Isaiah" and the other responds "Prophet"

The NBA generally drafts based on upside.

Dude has played lights out for pretty much the last month. If he keeps this up for another month; who knows?
