Is that what the past two games have been? Are we legit, ready to fight and battle game in and game out and gotten beyond the childish antics that have held us back in the past? Are we going to rise up in Cincinnati this weekend in response?

Hoping this is finally a coming out party. Game analysis aside, overall that was a big time atmosphere and big time performance last night.

Man, I hope so. These games we play with Villanova are epic. Would love another one with them in the late rounds of the BET at MSG this year.

I like where we are right now. I don't think we're going to fold. Looking forward to this weekend. Frank

Hopefully you are right. To take the next step though we have to learn to win the close games. I really believe that this team has the talent and guts to play better down the stretch and become a really good team in February if they keep their heads up and play just a touch smarter. Defensively the effort was incredible. Noone is talking about the great defensive plays IW made last night down the stretch (the steal and the jump ball). We missed the switch on Arch and that hurt. Offensively we struggle in the half court and sometimes that is where games are won so they have to work on that. It's an area we can improve so hopefully they learned from that experience. Clearly we sent a message that we will battle to the end the last two games. Here's hoping for the future success for these kids - they seem to be working really hard and leaving it all on the court.

Yes, I'd love another game with Nova in March.

We still look like we are not quite there, but are getting closer. This team is finally playing tough against the best teams both at home and on the road. This next game against Xavier will be telling.

I still believe that our offensive system makes it very tough to get quality scoring attempts down the stretch. Fortunately we have guys who posses enough talent and athletic ability to keep us in a game.

I'd say it is now paramount for the coaching staff to design plays for situations like last night. Really, I can't blame Willard for this loss last night. What I would say is that they should have used a timeout when the game was tied under 2 minutes to settle his players down. IW and Gordon were kind of caught in no man's land and they forced the issue with some poor shot selections. I thought they could have set up a play with Desi or even Singh as a decoy out on the wing. IW and Gordon were both understandably reluctant to get the ball inside. I guess my point is that when you have to rely on the guard trio of IW, Carrington and Gordon down the stretch it makes it hard to always get a good realistic scoring chance. That's the difference between Seton Hall and the really top tier teams. Hopefully, they can learn from last night. In addition letting Nova get that easy basket out of the timeout was inexcusable. The bottom line is that they just need to keep their collective wits about themselves down the stretch.

Zero doubts about that. We have the talent. Period. Good teams (and coaches) turn talent into results. This was a missed opportunity. There are no moral victories.

I read Whitehead's comment, which said it best. "We Lost." End of story.

Unity, resiliency, and effort turn individual talents into a winner. That's what we've been waiting for.

You hope some of the mental mistakes of last night are correctable with time, teaching and experience. Especially with some of the TO rules where a coach just cannot get a TO when needed.

I think every game counts for a team in some ways. I don't like the term "moral victories", but I do believe you can take some positive things out of certain losses and they can propel you. Teams are made up of humans.

Of course the classic example recently comes from the NFL when the Giants nearly beat the undefeated Patriots in the regular season finale in 2007, and then later did so in the Super Bowl. That particular game was a close loss, but it infused them with confidence and they went on their run.

I hope this is one of such for us.

Al McGuire said best thing about freshmen is they become sophomores. I believe he also said by the end of the season, they are no longer sophomores. Hopefully our upperclassmen will be playing in the post season.

The reason for the intensity is Derick Gordon. He won't accept anything less than 100% all the time. We have not had this kind of leadership since KW came and way before that. Rimas and Sha? Andre?

I'm really skeptical of Sat. We played really well the past 2 games but the way we lost, X coming off of a loss, Willard already ripping the big east scheduling, blizzard, this has the makings of a blowout. Hope I'm wrong

Physically and talent wise we are legit. KW is also doing a good job coaching our Team. Barring injuries and team chemistry problems, we have a good chance to play in the post-season.

We played a Top 4 Team and gave it all it can handle. The game could have gone either way. I am happy with the way things are going.

if we had Novas half court offense, we would have won by 20. The players kept this close because of defense and hustle. I just wish we didn't look so confused in the half court.

Defensively I think we are there. One bad obvious lapse last night, but a credit to Arch doing what upperclassman should do... but overall iot was a very impressive effort on D.

Offensively I think we are not there and it is because Whitehead tries to take over the game. He had two drives that went in (each of which would have been called an offensive foul in another arena) and the next possession in crunch time he goes for the heat check, doesn't pass at all and takes a contested 3.

We need to run an offense.

One of the points Gottlieb raised last night was that Jay Wright typically allows his players some flexibility with the ball given the amount of effort the consistently put forward on the defensive end. That's nothing new. Coaches have been doing that for a long time.

But there's a huge difference in allowing them to do that within the confines of a system and allowing them to do that totally off the dribble without such a structure. That's where we are far too often. have to get it figured out because more tight games are coming.

Fixed that for you. And its why i believe were not going to figure it out because its an obvious mental block for our coach. Weave city.

And it's also why IW will be in the spotlight because Willard allows his PG to dominate the ball. So he's going to have to mature, be coached up, whatever and quickly. We're almost halfway through the BE slate.

I'm hopeful.

Teams do tend to take on the personality of their coach, which you inadvertently noted above. lol
