Will it go back to the Supreme Court? How will our 9 judges vote? May it go away forever and free markets create competition.

The part of the law which was challenged and the Supreme Court found to be constitutional is no longer there so the rest must be unconstitutional?

Unlikely that ruling gets through a challenge.

Good summary on the ACA and what to expect re:healthcare in 2019, which is consistent with what I hear from my network. Anticipated to be upheld on appeal and will go to SCOTUS late this year. If it is upheld by the SCOTUS then it will make for an interesting dynamic heading into 2020. No one gets impacted in 2019, but if Congress does nothing while all this is happening, it will be a mess to say the least.

These answers from you guys are why I love this board. This is how I learn borg sides of an issue. I know I don’t agree with Merge, but find that I’m always happy to see his answers and see subject matter experts weigh in.

Possible but really had to imagine the supreme court upholding the decision (if it does get that far) since all 5 justices who ruled on the mandate are still there. I agree that congress does need to do something though. The mandate was a necessary part of the law for it to work. Without it, the individual market will be unsustainable.

From those I have spoken that are way more knowledgeable and involved in this, they do expect the appeal definitely to be upheld with a little less certainty when it gets to SCOTUS. It's really about how long the process will take and how close it gets us to 2020.
