Okorafor Portal

I would have liked to seen him play some PF next to Godswill. Seemed to be in the doghouse a lot.

Never believed there was much interest in having him stay - either he got little Coaching or just never responded . He did get "yelled at " quite often and never looked like he enjoyed the experience. Then again , whom would?

Did u see these players in the final 4? For any of u who wanted most of these guys to stay are crazy. Isaiah was the only one w any talent. Take a chance on jahseem and godswill another year and evaluate in 12 months. If u think dual and prince as starters will lead us anywhere you are nuts

But…but…. He was a Power 5 transfer.
You read many of the posts here and think that’s where everyone has to arrive from.
Just coming from a Power 5 school is not enough. But coming from one and having a good resume is what I'd like to see. We seem to have a recent track record of getting Power 5 school kids with great potential but marginal success (e.g. Dual, Middleton). I'm fine with mid-major kids if they have the full set of tools. The young man from Merrimack we just got has a strong rep as a slasher but is undersized and a poor three point shooter. That concerns me.

Some guys have a nose for the ball. I think he was missing a nose. Can't remember a "big guy" that somehow managed to grab less rebounds on both ends. Sometimes they just fall in your lap and he couldn't even get that lucky.

Hey the 7’2” center starter on Duke had zero rebounds in 20+ minutes vs Houston in the national semis on Saturday.

Here’s some food for thought. If you took the best game each of our players had all season, and magically made them occur simultaneously in every one of our games, would we have finished above .500?

If you are going to start a 6'9 freshman center you better have a PF with size. We didn't.

Had 10 rebounds in 20 min. against RU with 8 points. Probably SHU's best player that day.
I wanted him to stay and improve. Saw some talent there that could be molded. Can't teach size. Watch out what we ask for - everyone in the portal pretty much and no core players even for the bench.

Hope we don't shop again at the Dollar Tree.

Well, this guy is available:

6' 10", 230. He's likely to be pretty reasonable in NIL ask too.

He actually showed promise in limited minutes.
He was one of the UCONN Fab Five dudes. I can say straight away that he is better than Okafor

He wasn't bad, but he wasn't great either. I think he struggled with Hurley's schemes both on offense and on defense.

I’m not say Okafor was great by any means and he got in the dog house a lot. But it’s hard to do anything offensively with you don’t have anyone to get you the ball where you need it. Towards the end of the season they can a few lobs for him. Our bigs needed help and never got it.

All these kids ask for at minimum 250k the best players are getting 2-3m
When it appears that fans are still footing the majority of the bill, whether it be through increased ticket prices, higher donations tier minimums, or through collectives, I think the tolerance for that $250k is going to wear thin sooner than later.

Many people work really hard and don’t come close to earning $250k a year.

However, these kids, who some are not very good at their craft, are going to get paid that much to put such a poor product on the court? I don’t think that is going to sit well with many. Eventually the money is going to stop coming in at the mid tier and lower level programs.
