CHICAGO – Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.), Jenna Walsh (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) and Laila Wallace (Munster, Ind.) combined for 28 kills and only eight attack errors, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell at DePaul, 3-0 (19-25, 17-25, 21-25), on Saturday.
Lucas finished with a team-high 11 kills with only two attack error and a team-best .409 attack percentage. Walsh tallied nine kills and four digs, while Wallace had eight kills, only two attack errors and a .400 attack percentage.
Junior Taylor Jakubowski (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) nearly had a double-double, finishing with a team-high nine digs and eight assists.
SET 1:
Both teams had a strong offensive first set, but DePaul erupted for a .424 attack percentage with 16 kills and only two attack errors. A kill by Lucas tied the set at three early, but the Blue Demons responded with a 7-1 run to grab a 10-4 advantage. Down 19-11, The Hall scored four of the next five points and a kill by Walsh cut its deficit to 20-15. DePaul bounced back with four of the next five points to enter set point, 24-16. The Hall staved off three set points, but ultimately fell, 25-19.
SET 2:
A kill by Jakubowski cut The Hall's early deficit in set two to 5-4, but DePaul responded with a set-defining 9-0 run to take a commanding 14-4 advantage. The Pirates methodically chipped into the Blue Demons' lead and a DePaul attack error cut The Hall's deficit to 21-16. DePaul ended the set, however, with four of the final five points for a 25-17 victory.
SET 3:
The Hall never trailed in the final set as DePaul scored six of the first seven points to force an early Seton Hall timeout. A kill by Maddie Klungel (Napa, Calif.) cut the Pirates' deficit to 8-6, but DePaul bounced back with four straight points to extend their lead to 12-6. Down 19-12, The Hall scored five of the next six points to pull to within 20-17. The Blue Demons were able to hold off the Pirates for a 25-21 victory to complete the sweep.

Seton Hall will return to action next weekend when it hosts Creighton on Friday and Xavier on Saturday, both in Walsh Gymnasium.
