Would love to hear a one on one interview with Coach Sha by Jeff from point Pleasant. Here would be a bunch of questions that I would be interested in.

did you realize how challenging the NIL was going to be when you started here

When will you agree to hire a GM?

Social media is apart of the landscape but you don’t seem to be active with it

Seton Hall students are very talented in the sports media, social media and other aspects where we could do an increased exposure for the program. Is that part of the overall strategy to increase our media footprint while doing it on a budget

Defense is a focus but how else would you describe the team’s you want to build

Outside of Richie R , you arguably are SEton Hall, how additional pressure is that for you to get this program to the top of the Big East

What do you think needs to change in ncaa immediately to reduce the nil cost and transfers

It has always been the name on the front of the jersey but fans like to connect with players like when you were in school, how do you manage that ?

What will it be like with KW back in the league!

Can we see IW as part of the staff in the near future?

Can we expect to see Xavier in a senior Hall jersey soon?

Sha did a media campaign that first offseason after St. Peter's amazing E8 run and then his hiring at The Hall. But since then it's next to nothing. In the last year alone you can see how he's severed off the program from media exposure... at it's own peril.

If Sha was winning no one would care, but his isolationist and combative demeanor while losing may point to one of the reasons. This is a wake-up call and self-reflection time.

This is like insider info once removed so could be inaccurate.

I heard, in sha’s opinion, the only issue has been he is given no money and that’s the sole reason for performance

In other words: there is very little to no self reflection going on; he feels confident he knows what players he wants; how to run a program and what to do in game. I would expect almost no changes while he is coach

Just hope he gets more talent

And this is where his bosses should be giving him that feedback which I would assume they are. If they’re not, they are just as culpable. And if he ignores them, then the leash should be pretty much choking him.

Lyons, Felt, Reilly, Buehler, Buehler, anybody? When Willard had his catastrophic season it sounded like Lyons had a sit down with him. His attitude attitude changed a lot.

After this season, there should be a group intervention!!!

I don’t think lyons sat down with him as a boss; I think it was more like: this should change or we’ll be fired

None of those people are Shas bosses or would ever tell him what to do

it does seem like sha is doubling down on mistakes, but mistakes that are only amplified because we have no money. hes not wrong, that will always be over 50% of the problem.

Semantics…that’s what I meant. Lyons (or someone) gave Willard the “you better change now or else” speech. Sha needs the same.

I think the lyons situation was overblown and was actually told it was his dad who told him; change or they’ll can you; and it wasn’t threatening it was that we have no chance to compete conventionally and he has to be creative

No one is having any kind of sit down with Sha

lyons is in a different position now and not tied to the coach like he was willard. willard clearly got a message considering he hired tiny morton, a move that was opposite of the "cleaned up" moves he was sorta hired for.

No it wasn’t.

And again I’ve heard that message came from his inner circle and not as a “threat” that’s been posted here

Hi “bosses” are just as frustrated as we are regarding the GM issue.
Yep. The freaking AD of the school went public with it.

“Right now we’re working with our coaches to figure out what the best use of that position is,” Felt said. “Is the next thing the general manager? It’s certainly the sexy thing; everybody is hiring one. I’m not saying we’re not doing it – I know what we do need; we need someone who can help with these negotiations and also can help when it comes to salary cap management.”

you've heard and others have heard differently. the fact willard immediately made an uncharacteristic move after that marquette loss makes it look exactly what it was. it was widely talked about back then, and honestly makes too much sense

Even in the euphoria of his hire, my questions about Sha were how he would handle aspects of the Program off the court and is there anyone he can turn to in a crisis or to sit him down and tell him some hard truths. Willard had Ralph and Rick and he and Lyons were linked. Sha doesn't seem to have strong mentors and no strong voice at the school that he respects. Let's see how he responds to this debacle.

There is a clear disconnect between Sha and the Athletic Department. The above response to the GM and the constant disconnect about resources. Sha has been telling everyone about the lack of resources all 3 years while Felt and McBride were saying everything was great. Even after the last game when asked about increased resources, Sha didn't sound convinced.

"I got the word that people are stepping up and they think it’s gonna be there," Holloway said, speaking generally about a resources bump. "But I want to make sure it’s there and more, to tell you the truth. We need more.”

The way this portal season has gone, it's obvious Sha isn't operating like he has a $6M budget that the admins are telling people he has.

This crap has to stop. Seton Hall has enough disadvantages, it cannot survive the HC and the school administration being on separate pages. Figure out how to work together for the good of Seton Hall or GTFO of the way.

Yea his inner circle told him our school sucked, which they warned him about before he took the job, said he needed to figure it out and get innovative to get talent, he wasn’t going to “out smart” the big east and you can’t recruit to our school and he was going to get canned and his career was going to take a major hit

It was not lyons giving him the riot act by any means

If you think anyone except a major major donor (which we don’t have) is a “boss” to any one of our men’s bball coaches you don’t know what you’re talking about

I’ve never believed the Lyons/Willard stern-talkng-to thing. IMO the school wanted to fire Willard but was too cheap to eat his buyout, which by sheer luck led to one of the greatest stretches of basketball success in school history.

The Lyons “riot act” rumor appeared on this site well after the fact and never made much sense to me.

they dont endorse their own paychecks...

that job was great for willard who essentially had no resume other than getting a few more wins on a maac team. but if the SHU job sucked then , it's gotta be one of the worst now. Sha is the best coach we could get or retain.

it never made sense that a coach who was floundering after 5 years and a god awful recruiter got a stern talking to by the AD?

huh? it couldn't make more sense than that.

It did not. Willard had major contract security that offseason. He wasn’t going anywhere. And Lyons never seemed like much of an authority figure vis a vis Willard.

i cant think one one example of an ncaa basketball coach stinking it up for 6+ years without being let go

Would it matter with his arrogance and stubbornness?
Spk145, you seem like not the greatest Sha fan right now. I don’t blame you but it does seems more strongly negative than the average fan.

Is there a reason, outside of publicly available info, that has made you go down this road?
