Opening to BET on Peacock

Just another sign of the further decline of the Big East and its standing nationally. Things aren't what they used to be, that's for sure.

Was there not consensus that it was good for big east to diversify and have multiple rights holding agreements last spring/summer?

As a league were you going to exclusively trust fox when you saw they have sought more inventory with deal making with other leagues in recent years?
i understand that. for me- as a viewer - it sucks. i have peacock. which doesnt change my opinion

Notre Dame football plays on Peacock and we’re complaining here? My only issue with it is that you can’t start the game from the beginning until the game is over. So if you’re late to start, you’re stuck waiting for the game to end before watching. Hopefully they fix that soon.

what’s annoying about streaming is being forced into multiple subscriptions - we have YouTube tv, max, prime, Netflix, Disney+, and I’m sure I’m forgetting one. I’m drawing the line at peacock.

These companies have laid the groundwork for years. These days you have to pay for everything - newspaper sites (APP, NJ.com, record, etc.), sports (the athletic, ESPN), news sites (CNN), and much more. Never had to until recent years. The greed has gotten out of control.

This I agree with. And I swear they all collude to stagger their shows so that you need them all to watch your content. I went through a cancelling plan where I told myself I would only have them when I needed them. Well guess what…I was back in on all of them within a couple of months. I’ve thrown in the towel. Can’t keep up. They’ve got me because playing that game was worse than the subscription fees lol.

The production qualities on all the games I’ve watched on Peacock have been very good.
Jared Sumner, the son of one of our own, Bob Sumner, is a producer for NBC Sports and has been handling a number of Big East and basketball broadcasts.

You have had to pay for newspaper content since the start of newspapers. Why does it matter if you pay for paper or digital articles?

I still have traditional cable because when I'm not running around to kids activities on fall/winter Saturdays, I like to be able to flip around to all the sports networks you get with the sports package to check out the dozens of college football and basketball games. And while I subscribe to some of the streaming services too, I agree its so damn annoying to close out of an App and have to open another App to check out a game when we are on Peacock and I want to catch 5 minutes of another game.

Paper = multiple articles (local & national news, sports, home section, etc) (Star Ledger was once readable)
Digital - one source for 1 type of article and usually costs more than paper and usually slanted in one direction.

Not once they came online. Then they all changed to where you have to pay for anything more than a couple basic articles.
