Taking a breather from the election ....on the surface, these are pretty hefty fines ($21 B), but spread out over four companies and considering the total revenue and profit over an extended period of time, it doesn't seem right. And since all three major distributors are paying, no one is really getting hurt by being put at a disadvantage. Until there is accountability and an executive fears jail time, this stuff will continue to happen. There is a lot of blame and accountability beyond these four players. Insurers, PBM's and most importantly the AMA...ultimately there were physicians that wrote the prescriptions and their governing body looked the other way. Like watching an episode of the Showtime series..."Billions"

I'd be curious to compare it to the gaming industry.

I have been directly involved with Sands and Wind Creek with regard to them having to put money up for addiction and crime impact.

I don't have numbers such as % of revenue, etc.

I don't like the idea of levying fines after the fact. I would have preferred that this was thought of ahead of time and made part of the planned cost of doing business.

There are similar precedents in construction i.e. developers having to put up money for traffic impact and green space.
