At least we salvage something in Charleston by being matched up with Ole Miss on Sunday afternoon. Quality team, quality non-conference game.

Would be nice to see a good game against a pretty good team. I think that has to be the goal right now with this group.

I would think Whitehead will be back for the ole miss game; looked like was held out only as a precaution.

Evidently is going through the protocol. We really need Whitehead and Delgado to be the top players we thought they'd be. The others have been very good so far, but need those two to step up.

That collision looked like concussion material. But who knows. Gordon stepped up tonight in IW's absence.

It's pretty remarkable how short we've been on guards over the years.

Have to beat Ole Miss. Can't go 1-2 with losses to Long Beach St & Ole Miss even without IW

With respect to the absence of guards on the bench, this is where the walk on from Chicago can earn a big place in SHU lore, more chances for real minutes of PT during the next 2 seasons, and save our current season.

Also, does anybody know when the recruit from San Diego, Soffer, is going to try to play. Mississippi is not a pressing team and Soffer could be ok to help with ball handling, if he is reasonably healthy.

Still have no idea why this team didn't bring in a point guard that could play this season. Made zero sense. Oh wait, they did but he can't play this season. Don't get it.

Barring injury, our guards are fine. Kadeen and Gordan can also run the point; Rodriguez if needed can move the the SG spot in a pinch, maybe with Veer at the SF. I question our offensive scheme in utilizing what we have. I would rather see a triangle/bulls type offense over the motion/weave/hand offs we run.

I don't think the problem is not having a proto type PG. it's the offensive schemes or lack thereof. I don't think John Stockton could run this offense.

Hey, I think I wrote that exact post. Agree. Imo it not only doesn't work, it gets in the kids' heads and causes frustration.

Frustrating watching the same thing happen time and again in this weave. A non ball handler hands off to IW who gets double teamed and is. Forced to back out to half court. We then start again with 15 or so seconds on the shot clock. How about giving IW some space to do what he does best. Break players down.

Any word on IW's status ?

Nm. Just saw your trove post.

Can you sue someone on a message board for "posting infringement"?? I plead old age!

Repetition makes perfect.

After that fruitless weave, a guard invariably drives into three defenders and either gets stripped or puts up a ridiculous shot.

Northern Iowa 71 # 1 North Carolina 67. I want to hear from the so called experts on this board what went wrong. If the 5 to 10 so called fans from this board were North Carolina fans, what would you post after this loss.

For FLNJ, I would write that we need to put what the Northern Iowa coach did into a bottle and make Willard drink it.
Also, we need to check if the Northern Iowa coach would like to come to NJ.

Based on one game. My health issues and some of the posts on this board are the reason I will rarely post on this board.

Now that's what I call an out of the box suggestion!

Dear FLNJ, I'm not smart enough to the know the answer to your questions. But the internet helped me find some data.

Maybe you can help me with your questions.

Appreciatively yours,

Northern Iowa is a good team. Has been good for several years. No need to play the "so-called" card.

The achievements of the Northern Iowa coach are NOT one game.
Ben Jacobson has a long history of success in the same conference that features Wichita State.
Jacobson has lead Northern Iowa to several NCAA berths and to other big upsets.
His team beat Kansas in the Big Dance a couple of years ago.
His style of play would fit SHU very well.
Jacobson earns less than 700 thousand dollars a year.
It would be tough to get him out of the Midwest.
However, he might consider the chance to move up to a more prominent league,
with greater funding via Fox and Eastern media.
Lavin was never an East Coast guy before the chance at St Johns came along.

Now you're talkin. If I'm not mistaken Creighton over shadowed No. Iowa due to their success. They have always put a quality well coached team on the floor. Throw in a former SH player, forced out by PJ but makes good $$ coaching hs in Florida now, and St.Johns top asst/ recruiter who seems to be doing the coaching in the huddle, and were talking out of the box.

Trying hard to get excited about this team in the early going. I think it's a very good thing
that they are playing Ole Miss, at least they are from a Bigtime conference. A win here could take
a little bit of the bad taste from the LB loss. Plus it will create some momentum coming back to
The Rock to face Georgia and maybe some buzz. They do need to play better though.

Hopefully, IW will play and that's pretty important. It would be nice to see some cohesive play
moving forward. I also want to see if Singh can contribute some more and we might get a look at
Soffer also. Heaven knows we need some outside shooting. Carrington played better against
Bradley and Desi is coming on. I think Angel is going to have to work through OOC games.

+1

Ole Miss is probably an NCAA Bubble type of team. Today their KenPom #70 after finishing last season at #50 and winning a game in the NCAA Tournament. They lost two of their top three scorers to graduation.
