Wanted to discuss our defensive scheme. One of the major aspects that we see is that our big men hedge heavily on any pick or screen on the top of the key. The major problem is that Ike and Ro hedge way to much, this exposes us in the pick and roll, but it also moves the big men way out of position. The big men can continue to hedge, but they need to stop going to far away from the basket. The ball handler should never have a clear path to the basket without a 7 footer in their way.
This is something little that can make our defense alot stronger but also stop our big men from getting in foul trouble. Too often they are out of position and foul while scrambling to get closer to the basket.
I know KW loves to play a heavy switching defense, but when you have true centers it just doesn't work.
We need to change up the defensive scheme or teams will exploit us all season long.
