Parking Ticket's in NJ

Anybody have expertise in parking tickets in NJ?

I received a parking ticket in Rutherford, NJ last night. The citation was 39:4-138H- Improper Parking Within 50 Feet of a "Stop" Sign.

The problem is there is no stop sign where I parked and the area is designated for parking. These parking spots are always taken. The only limitation is No Parking between 8-11 AM on Tuesdays.

Should I just take photos of the car and spot? The ticket is $54. I want to fight it, but it's almost not worth appearing and having to get out of work.

Any advice is appreciated.

If the judge knows that you're there to fight a parking ticket, you could sit for hours depending on how full the calendar is. I went several years back in my home town to fight a speeding ticket. The judge down graded the ticket, but I waited over three hours. I would never do it again.

If you really want to fight it take photo's, go to court and talk to the prosecutor. But it is not a points violation and you will probably be sitting in court for an extended time period & may have to go back a second time. If it was a points violation I'd say go for it but for a parking violation unless you have no better use of your time you may be better off just paying the ticket. Otherwise call the court first to advise them that you intend to plead not guilty. They may give you a new date at that time in order to avoid a possible second appearance.
