Gonzaga University names Katia Passerini as the university's next President

Of course not our school….. but our option seems so much better!!!!!! Not.

What is going to be the spin on this one!!!

Someone on the other thread about this said how SHU wouldn't hire an Italian woman. Man o man, how I hope that is not true.

The head of the BOR is Italian. Not that it matters.
Of course, as are others, I'm sure. They blew it on hiring Reilly, but it's not because of anyone's ethnicity. I'd also be shocked if Passerini was not viewed as a viable candidate -- they thought enough of her that she was the interim -- based on her being an Italian woman. I honestly don't know anything about her credentials -- good enough for Gonzaga should have been a slam dunk for us? Who knows?

My guesss is they wanted to move away from. Dr Nyre hires…. Only explanation which is not a good one
As good as any.

What a run. Esteban botches the medical school collaboration, then flees and bounces around and finally becomes a consultant. Meehan has an unremarkable couple of years as an interim (a woman -- was she Italian?!), then Nyre leaves in a mess, and Passerini holds the fort until they hire a guy who we were strongly advised to distance ourselves from. And the BOR is our top 5% of donors, so do we clean house and say goodbye to their NIL and Pirate Blue contributions, and rely on a sawbuck every other year from the loudest complainers here?

What a shame. I always thought she should have been made president at Seton Hall after her excellent work as interim president and other great years of work here. I'm not saying this to pile on Msgr. Reilly. I don't know enough about him but can clearly see he is getting smeared. (If I'm not mistaken, the things he failed to report were allegations about sexual misbehavior by those over 18, in which he-said-she said (or maybe he-said-he-said) was the case and difficulty in understanding the credibility of an accusation. ) Nonetheless, all things considered Passerini would have been a better choice.

Fine. But did it have to be any clergyman? Or did they hire the first one off the street? Collar or not, we can't keep making these terrible hires and expect to thrive.
He’s a “terrible hire” because of an article on Politico that was shopped by someone who is disgruntled with the university ? So you probably don’t know our prexy but you’ve passed judgement. That’s pretty common here.

He was extremely popular and well-liked at Seton Hall Prep. That said, if the allegations are true -- while emphasizing that he is NOT an abuser -- he should not have been named President of the University.
