South Orange, N.J. – After earning a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament last season for the second straight season, the Seton Hall softball team will look to cement its best three-season stretch in two decades with the upcoming 2025 season. Head coach Angie Churchill announced the full spring schedule on Friday, featuring a total of 55 games against 26 different opponents.

In 2024, The Hall (27-23 overall,14-10 in BIG EAST) logged their second-consecutive winning season for the first time since the 2005-06 seasons and captured their second consecutive BIG EAST Tournament berth for the first time since 2004-05.
Alongside the team's achievements, The Hall's players gathered many individual honors during last season. Katey Brennan (Yardley, Pa.) became the third Pirate ever to earn BIG EAST Freshman of the Year honors. Brennan started all but one game last season, ending the season leading in batting average (.320), tied for second in RBI (32) and inside the top four in multiple other categories. In addition to her Freshman of the Year honors, Brennan earned ALL-BIG EAST First Team honors alongside Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) and Olivia Gilbert (Johnston, R.I.). All three players are returning this season.

Seton Hall is set to face a tough non-conference slate against 18 opponents in 2025. Of those 18 programs, four qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season with three of them winning two games in regionals. Overall, for 2025, the Pirates are set to face off against six teams who won at least 32 games last season.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
  • Seton Hall will open the 2025 season at the Louisiana Classics hosted by University of Louisiana-Lafayette from February 6-8. The Pirates' first and fourth games of the season come on February 6 and 8 against UL-Lafayette. Last season, UL- Lafayette finished 45-19 and narrowly missed a super regionals berth in last year's NCAA Tournament. Between the Pirates' two bookend games against UL-Lafayette, The Hall will take on George Mason and Longwood.
  • Next, the Pirates will travel across the gulf coast to compete in the FGCU Classic from February 14-16. The Pirates open the Invitational with the first of two games that weekend against a University of Nebraska-Omaha side who narrowly missed out on super regionals last season. The Hall will also take on Wisconsin and Florida Gulf Coast, the latter of which competed in last year's NCAA Tournament as well.
  • Before its final early season tournament, Seton Hall will return to South Orange to face Lehigh in a double header on February 22. Under Coach Churchill, the Pirates are 2-1 in home openers.
  • The Pirates' final tune-up before BIG EAST play comes in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the Party at Palmer Invitational from February 28 to March 2. On the opening day, the Pirates will play a pair of games against Virginia and Hofstra. The host-side Virginia will be tough competition for the Pirates, as the Hoos fell one game shy of making super regionals last season. On the second day, The Hall will face Cornell and Virginia again, before taking on only Cornell on the final day.
  • The remainder of non-conference action sees the Pirates play a home-and-home against Rutgers (home on March 2, road on April 16), in addition to home doubleheaders at home against Rider (March 19), Wagner (March 25), Army (April 2) and FDU (April 9) Syracuse (April 13-14) and Drexel (April 23). Seton Hall will also travel to face Drexel (April 15) for a doubleheader.
  • BIG EAST play will open at home this year against a team the Pirates have found success against in recent years. Georgetown will visit Mike Sheppard Sr. Field for the conference opener March 7-9. During Coach Angie Churchill's tenure, the Pirates have a 7-2 record against the Hoyas. The Pirates will also play host to BIG EAST rivals Villanova (March 28-30), St. Johns (April 11-13) and Butler (April 25-27) this season.
  • Seton Hall will make a pair of long road trips this season during their BIG EAST campaign. The Pirates will open their road campaign with DePaul (March 14-16) and wrap their season at Creighton (May 2-4) before the BIG EAST Tournament the following week. In addition to those sojourns, the Pirates will also visit UConn (March 21-23) and Providence (April 4-6).
  • The BIG EAST Tournament will be hosted by Villanova for the first time since 2001. The double-elimination tournament will be held from May 7-10.
